You know what? If you guys weren't so passionate about the Astros, it would not be as fun for me. No matter what, we are still Astros fans.
and no matter what, you own a bar and i'm coming by for a drink! i'd just like to reiterate that one more time! are you on the rail line?
Madmax, I was going to make you pay for your drinks but I guess I can buy your first one. Maybe?!? I am guessing you work downtown? There is a stop about 20 yards behind the bar... Camden is building something similar to the Plotsky(?) property right next to the bar. I will let you know when I will be there and we can meet. But, we are definitely going to discuss baseball.
I'll come. But you didn't answer my question. Do you already have a bar or are you opening one up? edit: You know I got your back bigboy.
Nice, I'll have to make a special trip down from Dallas. Too bad you won't be open next weekend; I've got club seats to the Astros v. Cubs Friday the 19th, so I'll be in town then.
You type this in and expect it to be taken seriously? Come on, man. I am all for getting rid of Kent. But in doing it you can't weaken your team. What has Chris Burke done worthy of being the annointed one? You might want him to get a few major league hits before expecting him to fill Kent's shoes. Remember, Kent had to get on base before he had the chance to dog it. Him dogging that play sent me into orbit. I think we should decline on his option (if for no other reason than to free up money for Beltran), but to pencil in Burke pretty much sight unseen is absurd.
Bingo. We have a winner!!!!! Sunstantively though...MadMax did make a point WAY up there in this thread. Nobody expected this team to be this bad. To blame the ownership when this team was considered a lock for the playoffs by most publications seems to be about as logical as to blame city counsel for not being ready in case a 7.0 earthquake hits Houston.
Let me get this straight, you are talking about Burke weakening a team, that by all accounts, is finished. Just stop, or better yet I'll quit while I'm ahead because I've already wasted too much time dismantling a post that had too many holes and lacked credibility from the get go.
My point being that you could bring up Burke to start at 2B next year and wind up with somebody who makes Brad Ausmus look like Ted Williams. We can ill afford such an experiment. You're advocating taking a completely untested player and putting him as the everyday 2B, and I lack credibility...odd.
610am 10th inning show just said that Kent is as good as gone at the end of this season. They said there is no way he returns as a Houston Astro.
i don't think there's any way kent is coming back, either. which i'm very fine with, frankly. i'd say that burke is the odds on favorite to the be second baseman next season. you've got to put him out there some time to see if he's the guy you thought he was when you drafted him. not much to lose, frankly...because i don't see this team being a strong contender next season, barring some major moves.
At the same time, if it's time to give up on the season...we need to know if Burke is going to make Brad Ausmus look like Ted Williams so we can form other plans for 2nd baseman. On the other hand, we may find we have nothing to worry about with Burke at 2B.
