Man, you guys are brutal. I think cuneo77 was trying to ask an honest question and you guys just trash him. IMO, cuneo77 was asking if Yao can defend himself if he ever were involved in a fight. From my understanding, people who joined the army (which I believe Yao was in, please correct me if I'm wrong) are trained for hand-to-hand combat. Since Yao is from China and Kung Fu (a subset of the general term Martial Art) is a fighting art that's been there for years, I would expect the army training to be influenced by some typed of Kung Fu / Martial Arts. So, cuneo77's question isn't ridiculous at all. If cuneo77 had said something along the line of "Man, that Dat Nguyen (Dallas football player) guy was in a fight and didn't use any Martial Arts", then you can make a stink about it.
A lot of that stuff is based on quickness, right? It would be great if Yao could get into that kind of non-strenuous but quickness building stuff.
all countries train their soldiers in some method of hand to hand combat. i think here, its mostly illustrated in the situtation in which each soldier is fitted with a football helmet and an oversized q-tip, and beat the hell out of each other. all of the males of my family in s. korea are forced to join the military for about 3 years after they turn 18. all are taught a form of tae kwon do. i wouldnt be surprised if other asian countries perform similar type training.
I read an article this morning about the Cavs and particularly big Z. It said Z shoved Yao because Yao (probably inadvertently) elbowed him in the head. Yao elbowed him in the head??? Since when is Yao throwing elbows?

In China, I believe, those who train in the military will learn hand-to-hand combat. however, i think its a little naive to think that 1-since china is an oppressive country, they force everyone to do military training, 2-even if they did, they would teach them with an inefficient and flawed form of self defense. Yes, the koreans also get taekwondo training, but thats not all they get, they also get proven self defense training, as martial arts are an art form, not necessarily beneficial in self-defense. then there are people that think if an asian is fighting, they are doing some type of kung fu. don't get me started on this...

That's exactly what happens, and then Yao would perform the FATALITY on Zydrunas where he rips down the rim and then uses it to decapitate him! And then Yao has to fight Shao Khan to keep his underworld legions from entering our dimension.
god man this was a serious question i wasnt trying to make a joke or be ignorant i just wanted to know that if since the gov there trained their athlets if they had to learn this, i think it was a legit question.
