So, you'd potentially compare the greatness of 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' with "He's just not that into you" due to a parallel amount of gender bias perspective? I could go into a debate on that supporting statement, but I don't think it would be worth watching you defend it, also I realize it didn't embody the entirety of your point. However, I don't think he hated it solely because it was a chick flick or more precisely because it had a female perspective, it sounds like he hated it because it also sucked. You make it sound like there haven't been many movies that are chick flicks... but that just isn't true. Some are even good. Yeah, clapping at the end to patronize those who enjoyed what he considered a bad movie does kinda make it seem like he was being an ass to a certain extent, but it could have been any movie that sucked where being an ass like that might be somewhat funny, if in bad taste. Bottom line, I hear what your saying, but can't get with you on the analogy, m'am.
Amelie is a great movie. So is When Harry Met Sally and Garden State. Maybe I just like Garden State because Zach Braff and Natalie Portman are so cute and Jewish I just want them to be together always OMG! sooo... man card?
The guy that brings up "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" has a point. Women have chick flicks, men have action movies. Action movies are just as predictable and unrealistic as chick flicks are. But the difference is, we aren't dragging chicks to action movies.
Yep why is that? I am already screwed with the plethora of chick flicks coming out...I was gonna take her to see Confessions of a Shopoholic for VDay...
Honestly, I don't think guys would wanna take their gfs to see an action movie. I'd rather go see it with some friends.
A long time ago, my wife forced me to watch "under the tuscan sun" with her. Nothing can possibly top the awfulness that was that movie. I died a little that day. Not figuratively, but literally. I could feel various joints and muscles embrittle under the painful dialogue, campy scenes, and horridly unrealistic situations, characters, and reactions. This from a guy who will happily admit that he likes good romantic comedies.

I don't make my husband watch chick flicks, because I don't make myself watch them either. Sometimes one looks interesting, but I don't let myself get tricked. I really don't know why women are so into Lifetime either. I hate that channel.
You are obviously not like most women. For one, you post a forum about the Houston Rockets in the hangout section.
Getting dragged to "Nights in Rodanthe" was truly the lowpoint of my otherwise testosterone filled life.
Just watched a chick flick (Throw some DREW in that b*tch!) Just watched a chick flick (Throw some Scarlett in that b*tch!)
I'm not really into "chick flicks," but once in awhile one will come out that I really enjoy. I've seen every Scarlett Johansson movie, and this is the only one I truly hated. It could've been because it was an ensemble cast, which made me impatient...I was like, get that "Gigi" chick off the screen, I need more Scarlett action! I saw Vicki Cristina Barcelona a couple months ago and loved it. So, in conclusion, the vapid and formulaic elements of "chick flicks" usually makes them unwatchable, except for Scarlett Johansson movies (excluding Just Not That Into You).
Either we're going to have to make outside shots or Yao is going to have to fight through the double team.
who doesn't ...but, I don't have anything against any certain type of movie. Any movie can be dumb. I couldn't finish watching that stupid Vin Diesel/Ice Cube movie (triple x?) and that was action. My whole issue with this movie was that I knew what was going to happen the whole time. It was intentionally predictable.
I think it's a tighter scope than that. The male version of the chick flick is the war buddy movie. This thread reminds me of that awful action movie Swordfish. I saw it with my wife and mercilessly mocked it afterward for the piece of crap that it was (half-nekkid Halle Berry notwithstanding). My wife liked it and got annoyed at me for ruining her experience by crapping all over it.
