I'd go double-check that "not causing turnovers" statement...he's usually good for a few dropped passes or throwing the ball away
I think Wafer is really aweful on defense. He lost his man very often and destroyed Rocket's team defense.
No. One dimensional usually refers to a player that is good to exceptional at one thing and bad at everything else. People like to say Head is 1 dimensional because he just shoots 3s and thats about it. But he isn't exactly bad at everything else. He's decent at shooting off the dribble, his passing isn't that bad (its his decision making thats bad which is why he isn't a PG, but he is good at passing the ball into Yao), his defense is average.
I mean Chuck is injured all the time, right? And he's not giving a crap? Oh how could he? He's the star on this team!
Chuck plays hard, even though he is limited, playing hard and tough are in his blood... If our stars played as hard as he and Scola and Brooks and Landry play, this team would have a much better record. Yao and Tmac coast far too much...... DD
I strongly agree that Chuck is a great defender for those post-up players. I am not a Head hater. I don't know what happened to him. He used to be an one-dimensional player. But he can't shoot anymore. He did show up in the Spurs game and that's the only game I remembered he played well. He is a good team player but our team don't need a player that only shows up once a while. We need to trade him for picks or another player even who is an one-dimensional player and able to consistantly get his job done and make his one-dimensional skill valuable to our team.
Stating the facts, yet you don't state any solid evidence other than a game or two. I agree about Luther, but you're completely wrong about chuck. Do you remember the time he positioned himself perfectly to catch a ball an opponent was saving out of bounds? Or the times he draws a offensive foul? How about when he forces post players into terrible shots? He's not a guy that will do great when he plays only 10 mins because he's not a stat stuffer. The things he does are done by getting a feel for the tempo, players on the court, and just different game situations. He's not the kind of guy who'll come in and go up and dunk on someone, that's an immediate impact, chuck's the type to notice that a defender is going for every fake, so the next time he gets the ball he'll fake him out, so he he needs a solid amount of minutes.
Yeah, I agree with all the people who have been taking up for Hayes (but not Head). Like most of you, I think Luther Head should be dealt to somehow bring in Mutumbo or, at the very least, should lose all his minutes to Von Wafer... but do you really think Chuck Hayes being bad is a fact? You do know what a fact is, right? Everyone knows Chuck can't shoot, infact, anytime he does take a shot I cringe and wonder what it's gonna take to get him to stop taking even open looks. But likewise, everyone knows Chuck can defend, post up, and rebound. He's a good roleplayer who can be a valuable piece in the championship puzzle. Put him on the court with battier and artest and you've got three of the best defenders in the NBA all on one court.
