Man, I would prefer Fesenko, I like the little bit I saw from him. Good backup center imo. So yeah, Damp better make up his mind quickly. Either Rockets or Heat, I don't care, just don't take forever.
Missed this thread before but would prefer Fesenko to Dampier due to youth and upside. Miller is just a stopgap and Fesenko would do well to tutor with Miller and Yao. go4jazz, thanks for your contributions and what about an update?
While I'd take Fesenko too, I see little reason why the Jazz won't match anything that the Rockets can offer - and tie our money up in the process. That's 1 of the reasons they are going after Dampier 1st. Fesenko will sign a 1 year and become a free agent next year. Maybe then we can sign him though it might cost Morey a 2nd generation IPad.
Hoping for Melo but end up with Dampier? Man what a ****ty start to the weekend. Hope the Texans don't let me down or else we will seriously have a problem.
We can get a project center in the draft next year. One probably better than Fesenko. This year we go all in and that's why Dampier is the best option right now.
Just waiting to hear something from Houston. The Erica thing has more than a few people frozen with decision making. Unfortunately Fes can't wait forever and without an offer this weekend from Houston, it looks like Utah is the only option. That said, even if it is Utah this year (assuming no Houston offer), it is ONLY for one year and Houston is definitely a preferred destination after this year. Outside of that all things jazz hater jevon3012, Houston seems like a great place. If I hear anything else or can comment I will. Thanks for the southern hospitality. FYI, when I was browsing earlier on BBS versus Jazzfanz.com it was nearly 10 to 1 in favor of Houston regarding the number of people browsing each site. Thought it was interesting that the numbers were so different.
If Houston offers Fesenko what they reportedly offered Dampier, $4 million over two years, do you think Utah will Match? Aren't they still over the cap?
Not unless the supposed AK47 deal goes through. I think they will get under the cap if they trade AK47.
If we do send him the offer, couldn't Utah lock us up for a week while any other free agent like Dampier signs elsewhere and then match the offer after a week? We should just get Dampier already. Really don't understand the animosity against Dampier. Is it just because he was a Mav... What did he really do wrong? People talk of him on here like he threw puppies in a river. He's the best guy available. Fesenko should only be plan B if Dampier doesn't sign. He's a prospect that still is raw as hell. He might just turn out to be another Aaron Gray, B.J. Mullens, Jason Smith, Robert Swift, Kosta Koufos, Chris Mihm etc. We can get a better project center through the draft if things don't turn out well with Yao this up coming season.
Thanks, man. By the way, if the 4 way trade goes down, it would seem that the Jazz will duck under the luxury tax line and be in a better position to match whatever the Rockets (or any other team) offer Fes.
I seriously think Dampier is a bum, but signing him is the most realistic thing to do unfortunately, because he is added size. People say he has a reputation for being a tough rebounder, and strong defender, but i seriously dont even think he is good at doing these things unless he in the last year of his contract.
Personally if we can't get any sort of an answer from Dampier today, I think Houston needs to start working on a possible sign and trade with Utah. Fesenko may be plan B but its not set in stone that Erica will sign with Houston even with Miami out of the running. I'd rather get Fesenko now then potentially lose both of our backup center options.
I don't like Fesenko, I don't like Dampier, I don't like Mbenga ... the guy I wanted (back) on the team was Pops Mensah-Bonsu! He signed with the Hornets, so that sucks (for me) ...
