Agreed. We were far more agressive so we got more calls. Didn't feel like we were getting much love when our 24 pt a half center picked up his 4th foul on a BS call mid-way through the 3rd. Sometimes its not the number of fouls, but who they are on and when that counts more.
nah, what happened was Stern was present, so the refs automatically swallow their whistle and "let them play", this benefits the more aggressive team, houston in this case, because they'll only call really obvious fouls. If stern wasnt there, yao would have had 4 in the first half.
Calls tend to favor the more physical team in the playoffs. Hopefully the Blazers don't go overboard trying to be more physical in the next game and cause an injury. Watch out for Pryzbilla, in particular.
You took the words out of my mouth. I completely again. Lakers and Cavs in the finals. Cavs take all. Mark my words
ref not going our way... look at that charge they called on yao. If this is not a blow out having yao on the bench with 4 fouls will really limit this team
yup those BS calls on yao but it was a gift in disguise as it gotten him out of the game and he got a real nice rest
Houston should have gotten even more calls. That one call should be against Portland for charging into Yao. Instead they called it foul on Yao. He was clearly there to take a charge. Also Battier should have received some charging calls too...i have no doubt if this game is in Houston, the refs would give them those calls.
I said before the game that Roy would draw bull**** flop fouls on Yao and that Pryzbilla would drop like a fly everytime he was touched. Turns out, they're better at catching flops now, look for Utah to get swept and blown out.
Guys, refs are really favored us because we are on the road. Only a fool will believe that refs will be more favored us on the next game?
I think we got more worse calls than Portland, the difference is that the Rockets played great and didn't allow the Refs to control the game.
my feeling was that a lot of early calls went our way and the Blazers simply let go of the game altogether. Lots of blazers fans would agree with me the refs were favorable to us tonight. I enjoyed it.
Yao's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fouls were bogus. On the other hand, at least they didnt call fouls on him when he kept his hands straight up (except foul number 3).
We were the more aggressive team on both sides like Bill Worrell said, and that's what happens when you do that. I didn't really think they went our way too much though, most of them were pretty legit.
I don't think the league office has any bias towards this series per se, but yes they would like LA and Cleveland in the finals. This game may be chalked up to refs being nervous about Stern being there and just getting off their asses and doing a better job. I didn't see any grossly mistaken calls that went either way besides the 4th Yao foul.
I think we did a pretty good job in the second half by going under the pick. Make Roy beat us by himself with 20 foot jumpers. Hopefully that strategy will work when Yao is in there.
