The Rockets have kept the size of their analytics department pretty hushed up. In his Reddit AMA Morey refused to state the size of the department or how many the Rockets employed and instead said it was simply 'a significant investment of time and money.' An interviewer recently pointed out that there were at least 5 Rockets analytics guys at the MIT Sloan sports conference. Anyone have any more info on just how big the Rockets analytics department is?
In reality, Morey no longer takes resumes from human hires, only robots. This would be a huge PR scandal because of the economy, so he tries to keep things hushed up. He inwardly scoffs at the hundreds of puny humans who line up to see him thinking they have a chance. Muahaha...
Not an answer to the question at all, but I remember reading about Morey taking a call from some hotshot New York hedge fund manager. Guy was inevitably a multi-multi-multi millionaire. Morey told him to email him a resume. I'm guessing if he's getting that absurd level of talent inquiring about jobs and can treat it like it's nothing then the people who actually work in the Rockets analytics department must be extremely elite.
