I think you were in the wrong here man. They set their price, and you have the option of eating there or not.
at least at subway it doesnt they just place the same amount really - my parents friends own a few subways and I had thought about franchising one myself in the past so I saw some of their operations and its pretty much the same. as for bigtexx - most of these arent "special orders" its basically not adding a piece of meat to the sandwich - and its subway Durv is talking about where regardless of what sandwich you order its customized to what you want in it there is no set process or "pre-set" ingredients so your whole theory about slowing down efficiency is out the door. Really its the same for most places - a lot of places people will still ask for their meat to be prepared differently isnt that reducing operator efficiency and "pre-set" ingredients? its not like I am asking them to take something thats already pre-made and then take something out -- as a customer they are preparing the meal to my preferences like any good business would
I told the guy I wanted a veggie sandwich but to rub the sliced sandwich meat over it so the veggies take in the meaty flavor. my damn doctor says i got to eat veggie only. So, guy wants to charge me $5 for the meat and veggie special but i say no way man...charge me $6 for the veggie cause I didn't get any meat and you could put the meat back with the other meat after running it over the veggies. guy looked at me like i was a nut...so i threw some cashews at him and told him to nut up and do it. bada bing!
I'm curious to know if the OP is overweight or not. Most people think vegetarians are healthy, but eating a veggie sub and a bag of chips sounds like a ton of carbohydrates with almost zero protein. That would get stored directly as fat unless he worked out right after he ate it. OP - what size is your waistline?
In a normal situation, Subway's veggie delight does not contain any high cost items such as veggie patties or meat alternatives. The bread probably is the most expensive part of the sandwich, therefore the employee's decision was not necessarily the wrong one, but only if it was a normal small business. However, because Subway is a multi-million dollar conglomerate that is focusing on their $5 daily specials, I am positive that they purchase the meat ingredients of the daily specials at a ridiculous discount by because of their purchasing power and because meat can be stored for a longer period than vegetables can. It's very possible that doubling up on vegetables for a veggie delight (I'm assuming that they double up on the veggies) actually costs Subway more than the daily special meat ingredients. The employee is instructed to not make a decision like that in most cases. The menu is the menu for a reason. Because he sold you the veggie delight at a discounted price, he will most likely be reprimanded. Whether his decision cost the store or not is not the issue, the issue is that he made a decision that he wasn't authorized to make (unless he's the shift manager). All employees at my stores are instructed to run things through the shift manager for approval first. If they make a decision without getting that first, then they will be reprimanded. I wouldn't have sold you the veggie delight at a discounted price. Veggies don't always cost less than meat. Last year a case of romaine lettuce went from $20 a case to $65 a case overnight. Meat prices are generally more steady than vegetable prices as well. I'm okay with losing a customer who will push my employees to go against the rules everytime he comes in. I might make one customer happy, but it would come at the expense of my employees who might wind up making other customers unhappy or hurting the store's bottom line. On the other hand, if you were a black chick, I probably wouldn't have put up much of a fight  I'm just being honest.
Next time, when they quote the price, for example $5.36, give them $6.03 and watch their head explode.
I just decided to cook some brown rice instead of white rice. Was I wrong?? Hopefully this guy is just trolling and not being cereal.
Ironically, I feel overcharged because I pay full price for 3 pieces of meat, lettuce, pickles, and mustard. Probably costs them more to make your vegetarian sandwich. I've quit going to Subway. I love their bread, but I prefer to go places that actually put meat on my sandwich (or make my own).
You guys do realize you could simply stop going to those places, right? No need to piss and moan because they don't want to cater to your whims, or diets. Just go somewhere more friendly that treats you the way you want to be treated. Or pay that extra $1.... DD

Shows what you know, I only go ape**** when the girl at Dairy Queen doesn't turn my Blizzard upside down before serving it to me.
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Emo A majority of those in the emo subculture are vegetarians. This stems from a liberal moral absolutist ideology about eating animals being wrong and horrible like that PETA video shows. How sad. This ideology also reinforces the idea that all emo males are p*****s and all emo females are stupid. Emos, like most vegetarians, are not without blatantly bashing meat eating and meat eaters. It is common to see an emo eating a large salad, fruits, and vegetables while looking rather pathetically at a "normal" person consuming a tasty hamburger. ------------------------------- Interesting..... Ah, the plight of Subway employees. This thread reminds me of a horrific story I read on "People of Walmart". It was the perspective of a Subway employee that worked at a walmart supercenter. Unlike Houston, which seems to have McDonalds at all Walmarts, this Walmart had a subway, which I would prefer actually. Anyhoo. The employee recalled a certain customer that would make the most disgusting order of all time. She was the typical woman seen at Walmart, extremely overweight and so lazy that they have to ride around in the "fat carts" Walmart provides. The employee said that she often saw this customer, a female, and she would always order the same thing every single time. She would request a Tuna footlong with all the veggies in it. Seems normal..until she makes her next request. She then requests 4 MACADAMIA NUT COOKIES to be put on the sandwich! She then the employee to cover the cookies with oil and vinegar until they became soggy and ready to fall apart! And to top it off, she doubled up on mayo to put on this monstrosity. I'm thinking that woman had a death wish.
Chick-fil-a Buy ice dream, cup get filled, you are happy. Next time have a guy repeatedly pack down your ice dream. This guy is f'ing awesome. Every time after that someone doesn't pack it down, you feel ripped off. What an a-hole.
