The guy had an AK47 and was obviously mentally unstable. Just because he didn't shoot anyone doesn't mean he couldn't or wasn't going to....
So they say. I think it's just for precautionary reasons. It hasn't been confirmed yet. And, yes, I will heed the warning and stay in my dorm until it's all clear, but I don't feel threatened at all at the moment.
Friend of a friend sent me this, "Whoa, I just heard a caller to KVUE say he heard four shots on Whitis by 21st, saw a bunch of people run away, ran with them to a building with windows, and then saw the shooter RUN BY AND WAVE AND SMILE at him and the group of people before moving on without shooting."
my thoughts exactly 3 hrs from now this could be cleared up and i dont want to be sitting on my ass watching the news and not studying for this test if i am going to take it

Damn, I live off campus and turned on the news this morning and nearly **** myself. Glad I don't live on campus anymore.
There is somebody dead on campus with reports of another shooter running rampant... Stay in and study anyways, but you aren't going to have to take that test today.
Better yet, I'd forward the e-mail to UT's administration ASAP. Absolutely ridiculous how a professor would send this out. bmthint - As a UT alumn, I'd highly encourage you to foward this e-mail to the correct personnel. Any professor who would send this crap shouldn't be a professor at UT or any university IMHO.
President Powers is not going to "uncancel" classes and take a chance of someone possibly getting hurt. Why is it suddenly so hard to convince college kids not to go to class? What has happened in the last 10 years since I graduated UT???

For reals, I remember class being cancelled because the weather forecast predicted temps in the mid-30's. I know it's no laughing matter but seriously chuckling at the kids still wondering if they have to take a test while a gunman is on the loose on campus.
Some dedicated students out there. When I saw the reports I was like ***** this, I'm chilling at home. Classes are cancelled guys, just take a chill pill, relax and stay home for the day. If you want to open a book and lecture yourself, by all means do it, but classes are cancelled.
