I understand that point of few. Thats why I usally don't enter my proxy till the last few hours of the auction. And if another proxy bidder outbids me, then Im fine with that since, based on my own proxy bid, they just overpaid for the item.
I know that other bidder didn't enter a bid of exactly 50 cents more and I know that I will never know his max bid. However, I do know that the other bidder didn't bid until after me and he was able to adjust his max bid based upon my bid. Ebay would not have said that I was high bidder and currently winning the bid if he bid before me. I pulled the trigger too soon and got outsniped, plain and simple, whether it was by proxy or not. Not a big deal, just thought it was something to talk about.
Guess there aren't that many Weird Al fans on here. I could go ahead and attribute the lyrics to him to start with, but it would just sort of ruin the effect.
I'll bid a few dollars under the price of the item new if I really want it...usually about 10% less that a new item. One time, someone outbid me, so I sent them a link to price of the item price new. They didn't like that
