I'm 24 and got my first speeding ticket last year doing 84 in a 60 (****ing 60 came out of nowhere) coming back to Dallas from Houston on I-45. It really was my fault, the flow of traffic was about 82 and then we started to hit the outskirts and everyone slowed it to about 75, and I was trying to squeeze in a few more miles at high speed.

I-45 North is dead on a Sunday, one time I drove from McKinney to Katy in 3 and a half hours. I swear to God, I did 85-95 the whole way and barely batted an eyelash from Corsicana to Conroe.

Needless to say, I was 1 MPH under the 25+ over fine which there would have been no defensive driving for, so I was a bit relieved by that. The deferred thing would have cost like 275 bucks which was probably about the same as paying the ticket, and there were hoops to jump though, so I opted for defensive driving which was about 100 bucks in court fees and then the 30 bucks to take it online, which I did.

Now I never go more than 7MPH over the posted speed in the freeway. :/

i hate that crap. i was going down Jones RD. towards 290 (jersey village)...it's 45 all the way down, then it becomes 35 right before you hit 290. The guy got me going 48, and JV tickets are no joke.

Yeah, I feel you on that. My ex-girlfriend moved back home to Dallas after graduating from UH and I went to see her fairly regularly. That is one lonely road, especially at night. I regularly averaged 90mph on that trip, and although I got pulled over twice, they were both warnings.

I think as long as you're not drinking or getting high or whatever, the cops sort of give you the benefit of the doubt because they know just how damn mind numbing that drive is. More so if you're flying solo.

    Lol...only 11 over?

I recently got a ticket for going 23 over, had to go to court, but luckily the judge removed the reckless tag and I just had to pay a fine of $210 and go to defensive driving school.

My first speeding ticket I was 18 over and ended up having to go to defensive driving school for that too.

    You'll be fine.

In the two years I've been driving, I've taken deferred adjudication three times for speeding. I feel like I'm wasting time when I'm NOT speeding.

The first time I got a ticket was for speeding, but the officer let me off for no license. I got pulled over again that same day in one of those traps when you're coming off the freeway and that woman was being SO mean and threatening to take me to jail. :(

yeah, that drive definitely played a role in me deciding to move from Dallas to Houston, last summer when I was still up there and Shan moved back to H-Town I made the drive about 5 times.

Nothing was worse than when we actually moved my **** down there though.

I was borrowing my friends' pickup and we had all my stuff tied down with just a couple ropes and a tarp. Shannon was behind me in my car, and she was calling me and saying it looked like stuff was about to fall out. We had to pull over like 4 times before we even got out of Dallas. Finally a bought 3 big bungee cords to put my mind at ease a little bit more, but the whole drive was the most nerve-racking, draining experience of my entire life.

So yeah, to hell with that drive.

My first ticket was when I was on the way to A&M from Houston. I had the mindset...that will never happen to me! Well it did happen....95 in a 65! When the cop pulled me over the first thing he said was "I've been chasing you for 10 miles." "I could have had cars up here waiting for you." I told him I pulled over as soon as I saw him. Obviously I had to pay the ticket...and I never told anyone!

My most recent ticket was on I10. I was in the fast lane and I passed this truck (of course it turns out it was a cop). I have a radar in my car and it wasn't going off, so I wasn't worried. Well right after I pass him he pulls me over and says "I was going 60 and you passed me, so you must have been going at least 70." I was so pissed that I made sure he saw me crumple up the ticket after he gave it to me. I then sped off and reached about 110 about a mile down the road...I had to make it to the Astros game! I wish I had told him...well thanks to you pulling me over I'm going to have to go that much faster the rest of the way to make it to the game on time!!! I ended up taking defensive driving, though I may have been able to take him to court since he didn't have a radar, but who knows.
