I got a 95 in a 60, or a 90 in a 65...can't remember which it was, and I didn't go to jail or get any rough treatment. It was kind of a special circumstance though, seeing as it was during the 2003 Gumball Rally. I heard the run was coming through Houston and caught a couple of cars as they passed through downtown. As stupid and reckless as it was, I played cat and mouse with a Ferrari for about 20 miles, heading east on I-10 leaving Houston. I actually got the ticket after that, just cruising with some other cars. We all got pulled over together, but those guys were all rich so it was no big deal for them. The cop and I actually got into a friendly conversation where he asked me what cool cars I had seen passing through town. Then he told me that my car wasn't built to keep up with the cars in the rally (untrue) and that I should probably turn around and go home before it broke down (which it actually did lol). I started to believe that I would actually get out of the ticket at that point, but I did not. The cop told me he probably would have let me go, but since his superior was the guy who saw us speeding, he couldn't. I had actually already taken Defensive Driving fairly recently when I got the ticket, so for me it didn't make a difference if it was 25 or over.
+1 Well put. I forgot you could do this. OP, you're given exactly one time to do this. So if you don't speed often, or can't afford it currently, this is an option.
Defensive Driving dot com is what I always do. I get a ticket about once every few years. You can log on and log off as much as you want and it will pick up where you left off. I usually start the class and do about 20 minutes a day. You're done after a couple of weeks. In this day and age, I have no idea why anyone would take DD any other way than online.
Hey if anyone of you guys want to take the Laff spot course here on Southwest Freeway Inside America Buffet, let me know.. We should join the class together since we're clutchfans member...
I had to do defensive driving back in 1999, before the online option, so I rented the tapes and took the test over the phone. There was one scene of them doing a newscast, and a severed arm fell from above onto the reporter's desk. It was holding the "breaking news" story...something about agressive driving being deadly, or you could lose an arm or whatever. On the test they actually asked who gave the reporter get the breaking news: - The news producer - A police officer - A severed arm So they were just testing to see if you watched, not if you really learned anything.
That's exactly how the online class works. They show little videos then ask you questions about them. But the questions are like: What was the previous video about? a) driving in the rain b) building a house c) Elvis Presley d) the 1943 Chicago White Sox
so is that one pretty much 100% video. No reading page after page after page for 6 hours. (I did one like that online a few years back and it sucked)
I prefer the online ones where you have to "read" and this is why: you just browse clutchfans the whole time it is on, and copy/paste each section of course text into a word processor. When they get to the questions, if it is anything you can't answer off the top of your head, you CTRL+F it in the word document you created.
It's pretty much 50/50 I think. But the questions on the reading are as easy as the questions on the videos. Best thing is you can log on and off as much as you want. You can take it in 6 hours or you can take it for 10 minutes a day.
This just sounds like the usual ploy by the cops to raise money. Another opportunity for "the man" to keep us from having a little fun on the road and take our money. You should fight this injustice by the fascist regime with every penny and weapon at your disposal.
i got pulled over for running a stop sign in my own neighborhood, 4 houses away from my home.. -_-...luckily i didnt have any records so he gave me a warning XD
You can get arrested for doing more than 24+ in GA, and for people under 21 its an automatic suspension of your license, though you can work out deals with the judge. I got ticketed for 41 over when I was 16. It was my first speeding ticket. They handcuffed me and put in the back of the patrol car. Searched my car, and asked me if I was on drugs. They were trying to see if I was high by looking at my eyes at having me tilt my head back. They gave my parents 15 minutes to come pick me up or they could come get me later at the courthouse. Lost my license for 7 months. I accumulated 8 tickets as teenager.
