"Outsourcing is just a new way of doing international trade," said N. Gregory Mankiw, chairman of Bush's Council of Economic Advisors, which prepared the report. "More things are tradable than were tradable in the past. And that's a good thing."
You're naive if you think party affiliation one way or another will make a difference in this instance.
No, but I do think that globalization and free trade is killing our steel industry and other manufacturing jobs in this country. I work in the tech industry, and I regularly train engineers in our China Design Center to help them get up to speed. The IT global outsourcing has ballooned out of control, and is a beast that no man can stand in the way of.
Sorry to hear that bro...I got laid off in May of 2002 in the energy industry and couldn't find jack in H-Town, thus I'm stuck in ABQ, NM until the market turns around... I still think networking is over-rated when the job market sux, but I'm getting interviews again, so I think it is on the rebound... Good Luck!
Thanks guys! I have been steadily searching & applying for jobs left & right. To add insult to injury I was watching the Spurs vs. Rox game then came a commercial for Halliburton. "It's what we know, not who we know." ....Actually it is both.
When there are 250 applicants per open job knowing someone helps a lot. I sent out 150 resumes but the 10 I got feed back from were directly related to personal input from a friend or business associate.
Sorry to hear about your luck. If you're willing to move though, make sure you state that on your posting to Dice, Monster, Computer Jobs, etc. SAP Programmers are always needed somewhere. Maybe just not where you are.
