I just got one yesterday too. Is it worth it to upgrade from the standard composite video cables that come with the console to the component cables? does it provide a better picture quality? Is it worth it to buy the rechargeable batteries and docking station as well? Do the AA batteries get used up pretty quickly? I already bought an extra controller, extra nunchuck, and Tiger Woods '09. I'm going to go out and buy Mario Kart and two wheel covers for the Wii today.
Component is a nice upgrade. You're not going to get HD or anything, but composite suffers from terrible video artifacts.
Be leery of the charge station. we bought one for our remotes, and within a month it stopped working. The batteries would not hold a charge. Apparently about the same time as mine went out a whole lot of people had the same problem. There were about 20 reviews at gamestop saying the same thing I had. We ended up buying an energizer charge station and rechargeable batteries. Works great and we use the batteries for way more things than the Wii.
I hear kart and woods are good. I'll be getting those in the future. Im probably going to get Metroid too. I rented mario galaxy, and it's pretty fun. I loved mario as a kid for nintendo, and i loved mario for n64.
It seems like the actually Wii size battery rechargers are hit and miss. Some work some don't some die after a few charges. I got something like this, http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10242692 and batteries to go with it. We use a ton of AA and AAA with my kids so although the batteries are a bit expensive initially we haven't bought any in over 2 years (but I am probably going to be buying some more AAA, because my youngest got a bunch of toys that need them). this type of station will also recharge both kinds too.
I got Guitar Hero for Christmas. Yes, I'm behind the times. We play it on a 40inch flatscreen HDTV (which we also got for Christmas) and I’m having a hard time getting it to sync up. It was way off so I tried the calibrate thing and now the audio is lined up perfectly but the video is still just a hair off. Any idea how to fix it?
I just went out to 4 different stores here by my home in the Galleria - none had Mario Kart Wii... Looks like a Tiger Woods '09 Christmas for me...
How can the audio be lined up perfectly while the video is still off? Aren't you lining the audio up WITH the video?
You're lining up the audio with the remote. I think 3 things have to be lined up. The audio, the video, and the remote. If I strum right to the beat of the music, it lines up perfectly, but the video is still just a tad behind. If that makes sense.
