since when has windows been better than mac OS?? gates himself even said they rely on apple to create n push the envelope so that microsoft has a model for the next windows.
Yes, and apple relies on PC for a lot of their products as well. Let's look passed Microsoft office for a second, do you know what the main engine of the apple TV is? It's Microsoft Silverlight. Both companies use the other endlessly. Fanboyism is stupid. Look, I know there are a million and a half things I can do with my PC that mac users cannot do, but if you choose to use mac that isn't my concern. The professor I work under uses a mac, and for her it works. Is windows a better OS? Maybe. Is it more prevalent than Mac OS, hell yes. Does that mean someone should switch one way or the other? Not really.
BTW, I'm a windows fanatic who would love to be able to write in LaTex. MikTex is awful, so to you my mac and linux brethren, I envy you.
yeah, they rely on each other. microsoft expects apple to innovate and microsoft copies. thats how it has been since the birth of windows. apple doesnt innovate as much as bring other ppls innovations to light though. nevertheless, microsoft knows their product is inferior. but they dont care b/c everyone uses it. the advantage of windows is that it is widely used. thats also the knock on apple. but to say windows is more stable is preposterous. not only b/c OS is a better built product but also for the reasons i just stated about widespread use. i love how anyone who uses a mac is a "fanboy". you defending microsoft sounds more like fanboyism.
Thats why even the mac lovers of Gizmodo has stated that Microsoft has out-Appled apple with Windows phone 7 series? Wow. What on Mac OS is like 7? Do you even read tech blogs? You seem like your tech knowledge is rather lacking. What do you mean by stability (it is a rather vague definition)? What exactly makes their products inferior Mr. Tech?... You accuse me of doing exactly what you are doing yourself. I did not accuse you of being a fanboy, rather all I said is that fanboyism is stupid. Your claim that the product is inferior is damn right comical in itself as well. Can you pick up any TV tuner off the shelf at BestBuy and record TV with mac? No. How about gaming on Mac? Haha try again. What about the "safety" of a mac? Did you know at a recent hacking convention hackers were able to control a mac through safari in uner 8 seconds, but windows 7 using ie took over 30 seconds? Look, I can go ad nausium in either direction, but I won't. All I am saying is this, if Windows is so inferior to Mac, this wouldn't even be a discussion. I guarantee that my "inferior" OS can do things your OS can't. When it comes to "stability" as by my definition I say Windows is perfectly stable. Since my install of windows 7 last November I have zero BSOD's with my desktop, 4 with my netbook (which are caused by flash), and 2 with my media center TV/PC (both caused by faulty ram that is over 4 years old). Viruses? I have not had a virus in my home network in over 5 years, nor spyware. Mind you, I am not the only one who uses my computers in this house. I will admit, I am much more knowledgeable than the average windows user. Furthermore, I am not saying that windows is great and mac is ****. All I am saying is this, both systems have their benefits, and to say that one copies the other is asinine. They both copy each other, build and grow.
ONCE AGAIN Please link us to that Bill Gates quote saying that he waits for apple to model innovation. Dying to see that
I can find a link doing the exact opposite in fact. I have a video where Bill Gates says the future of technology is a device like the iPad and the iPhone in front of Steve Jobs. Maybe Jobs takes gates ideas... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wuhHIqJyjY0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wuhHIqJyjY0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> But I guess somehow Jobs told Gates to say that...
Been having a Mac for nearly a year now. A week after I got it I promised myself to NEVER revert to Windows unless they stop selling Mac's (which is highly unlikely).
This is the responses I see and hear from people.... and then you see haters talking about how people buy Macs to look cool and to have some style... some bs.
What's wrong with having an opinion? To each his own, but I just don't see the glamor personally. If you do, kudos.
Well, there's nothing wrong with having an opinion about MacBooks. But there is something wrong with assuming why people buy certain Apple products. That's what I was getting at.
It amazes me how much it bothers some people that some people actually like their apple/mac products, or ANY products for that matter. Do you REALLY care that much that you have to blindly insult people and beat a dead horse with your disapproval? Just for asking people's advice on software? This really sets you off? Enjoy your macbook, OP, I know you will. As for must have software, you're not getting many responses because you aren't saying what you're looking to do or interested in, but there are a lot of resources online. Macworld reviews a lot of software, so you could look there. Also you can look at apple.com and find hundreds / thousands of widgets, mostly free. iStatPro is a good one for various things. Makes looking up lots of system info a one key process. Radar in Motion will give you decent access to weather maps. Harmonic was a great one until the record labels clamped down on lyric api access... it searched and input lyrics into iTunes for you as the songs played. One app I got a while back that I really do like is called Synergy , and it gives a lot of control/functionality to iTunes like systemwide key command access, an album cover fetcher, menu access to all itunes commands and features and much more.
I got a Mac last Christmas. At first I was unhappy because I prefer Windows. Now I'm a lifelong convert. The ease of use and the nice little features that are advantageous to me as the user are so awesome.
Windows is messy and complicated. Apple is intuitive and easy. We're not all computer geeks, people. Some of us just like things that are easy to use that don't crash for random ****ing reasons.
