Low? Try NIL. ...and JVG doesn't enter into it. There is not a single chance on God's green earth that Morey, CD, Les, JVG or Clutch the Bear will release Juwan Howard ...this year or next year ...and definately not the year after that. You are absolutely smoking crack if you think the Rockets would simply release an $8/mil player particularly if he can average over 10ppg ...which he can.
It will be tough to win consistently with Juwan averaging 10 ppg and Alston starting. Battier and Hayes are who I hope play most of the PF minutes with Howard playing filler minutes at the 4. Howard may still be useful as a bench player because he's most likely still a top 60 PF.
Cant wait for the season to start and watch Juwan on a nightly basis.... 1) Get outmuscled and outhussled for rebounds....sometimes by guards. 2) Get 2 blocks.....for the entire season. 3) Get 3 steals...by accident (again, for the entire season). 4) Watch his feet super-glued to the floor as his man passes by him and causes yet another foul on Yao. 5) Pretend to have post moves only to get stuffed by the rim. 6) Yet again be one of the leading candidates for the most blocked player. 7) Drive home happy with a fat check (in his brand new sunglasses) for making some wide open jumpers.
I have absolutely no idea what that means. Is it part of the joke that you quoted me without using my own words? I don't get it.
How can you just give a player away....Nobody will take him becuase of his contract and you can' twaive him cause he still gets the money and counts against the cap...so there is no such thing....I want somebody decent in return if we do get rid of him...
I hope a trade with Cleveland's Drew Gooden for Juwan plus the trade exception would materialize. Just wishful thinking guys!
hey everybody.. I am back after a 2 months absence overseas WITH NO INTERNET ACCESS!!.. What happened to Juwan after the sunglasses thing ?? I was hoping they find him guilty and we get rid of that fat contract ???
I think this is a grass-is-greener scenario. Drew Gooden is another underacheiver like Stromile Swift. What's better? Juwan Howard that breaks plays because he's slow but trys or a guy that breaks plays because he doesn't try? I think I know JVG's take on the matter.
This underachiever who "doesn't try" is one of the best rebounders in the league, and an efficient scorer. He's definately better.
The "one of the best rebounders in the league, and efficient scorer" also has a negative +/- last season, and in all but one of the seasons of his career. In fact, when Gooden and Juwan Howard played on the same team in Orlando: http://www.82games.com/0304ORL.HTM Howard's +/- was +3.7,. Gooden? -8.4
LOL, I love it when people say that Howard has negative trade value and is completely undesirable, then insist that it would be foolish to lose him for nothing and that we have to get something in return. Does not compute.
That would be great if it was 2003, now it is 2006. Howard's game has fallen off a cliff since then. Anybody who invokes stats in defense of Howard implodes their own post before it starts.
In 2006, Drew Gooden also had a -4.2 +/- in his contract year. http://www.82games.com/0506/05CLE12D.HTM
