I think Howard makes a nice bigger back-up/occasional starter to Battier as the primary PF and can share the back-up C minutes (Deke can't play 15MPG and stay fresh--Yao's back-up minutes should be split between these two).

Howard's contract does gets progressively worse, but that does not take away from the fact he is a decent rotation player for the Rockets. If you want to throw away a player for nada, start with Alston, not Howard. At least Howard is relatively efficient.

We saw all the games buddy. We saw a old PF who cant rebound or defend. BTW Chucky Brown had ten times the hustle that Juwan has. Also, we do not need a PF that is supposedly "money" from 18 feet. There is a reason why we get outscored when he is in and the opposite when he is out of the game. I cant remember how many times he would brick shots at the beginning of games and put us in a early hole. The word "solid" is used too loosely. Shane Battier is "solid" -- Not Juwan Howard.

battier is a natural sf and i would not call him "solid" at pf.

seriously, why do people on this board trash jho so badly? he plays with heart, he is an indispensable leader in the locker room, and he can still score as a pf, which is rare in the league today. he has liability issues at defense and his salary is costly, but who else do you want to replace him with? battier, novak, and chuck hayes is NOT convincing.

Power forwards with heart play defense and rebound.

    Juwan is a puss.

Scoring is the not the thing we need from our PF. .Look at Udanis Haslem. Remember a guy named Otis Thorpe? Its about offensive rebounding, blocking shots, etc. How huge was that offensive rebound Haslem got late in game 6? Juwan seems like a decent player but the stats on 82games.com dont lie. He hurts us more than he helps. I meant Battier is a solid basketball player...Juwan is not.

rofl and battier, novak, and hayes is the answer to that i presume. sorry, but i don't see any of them controlling the boards better than jho can.

Hayes cant board better than J hO? Thats just ridiculous. I really cant recall Juwan gettin an offensive rebound. I can remember countless times where hayes has gotten them. I doubt that total rebounds per 48 min is even close. Im not saying Hayes is the answer. Im just saying Howard is not the answer, especially at the starting 4. Hopefully, if he is still on our roster....he will play back-up and limited mins.

I love this idea, cause then we could bring over Badiane who could start next to Yao giving us a defensive presence.

    BADMAN to the rescue!!!!!

I don't think anyone is going to take Howard's contract off our hands until at least mid way through next season. Unless we take on an equally bad contract like Miles. Howard can contribute off the bench this season, he will just be overpaid. We have paid guys like Mo Taylor and Spoon more for doing less than Howard will do this season. At least the man plays hard and knows his role on the team.
