As someone who hasn’t watched NCAA this season, can someone explain how Clingan is considered a much better prospect than Edey?
Edey is the much better player and should go #1, but the media narrative has him at 10-15 range. Only negative at all is he’s 22. I don’t like him being so old, but he could still have a few standout years before hanging it up for good.
Makes you wonder what you would think if Clingan was a senior and Edeh was a sophomore. Clingan would have double the assists likely triple or more in blocks. More points and rebounds as well. Way higher defensive metrics. I’m sure you would still be on here though saying Edey is better I’m sure!
Clingan is an elite weak side help defender. He blocks shots out of his area. He has a developing offensive game. ZE has several solid post moves, some with classic dribbles, but he’s only big on D. He knows he to use his frame, but isn’t an elite presence like Clingan.
Eddy moves very slow when rebounding and moving laterally than Clingan. We need to draft Clingan but I believe it might go Sarr drafted #1 and Clingan at #2….I hope not..we need Clingan or Sarr
Mobility tbh. Clingan looks mobile enough to potentially keep up with an NBA offense on the defensive end. Edey can score because he's massive if he's stood within 5 ft, but you're not getting much outside of that, and he's a total stiff so people doubt his ability to keep up at the next level.
One thing that makes me happy with whoever goes #1 and #2 is they are both going to crappy East Coast teams. Not bolstering the west.
I don’t think many people are considering that Edey has a lot of room to improve. He’s only been playing basketball for like 6 years and is already a better shooter than Clingan. Edey had better mobility numbers at the combine. Clingan was 6’8” as a freshman in high school and couldn’t dunk. He’s already had a foot injury and only played 22 minutes a game. I still don’t get the hype.
I hope Atlanta gets caught up in the hype. If they take him it increases the chances Sheppard will be there for us.
