This thread effectively ends the argument that the board is anything but heavily dominated by liberals. Liberals, not moderates, vote for a candidate with Obama's platform. That's a fact evidenced by the primary results and by history. Let's take this poll later in time, friends... HO HO HO
It couldn't possibly be based on policy could it, T_J. Americans overwhelmingly want a better Health Care System, want our brave soldiers out of Iraq, want fiscal policy that works, want a Tax Code that helps them more than corporations, want energy independence, want the government to take bold steps in energy and environmental policy instead of allowing Corporations to set Government policy, all the things that 4 more years of the same old thing will not do. It is pretty easy why people are supporting Barack Obama. The Clinton supporters may be angry now, but they understand the truth. McSame is not the answer. He represents 4 more years of problems. 4 more years of the wrong path. 4 more years of senseless war. 4 more years of the exact opposite of change. 4 more years of leadership America can't afford to trust. And you and McSame can stop calling everyone friend. My friends wouldn't sell their soul and convictions for a political office. My friends don't tell me one thing and do another. Any political candidate that calls me friend is in my opinion the same as anyone that claims to be honest. Show me and you won't have to tell me. Oh and my friends don't lie to me, even when the truth doesn't suit them. One more thing, you can stop with the "HO HO HO". I know Santa Claus, I sat on his lap when I was a kid, he was nice to me and made me feel special. Santa Claus represents all that is good in the world. Santa Claus gives me hope in my fellow man. Santa Claus is a friend of mine. You, T_J, are no Santa Claus.
I can't believe how one sided this is. Makes me realize why I hardly enter the D&D. I'll be voting for McCain. I don't think either will get done with what needs to be done, seeing as the President isn't God. I just don't feel comfortable voting for a Liberal President when the Congress is controlled by Democrats. I prefer a moderate or conservative government. I don't much care for a liberal one. I am in favor of reworking are healthcare system. I feel every American needs access to affordable health insurance, and the courts need to do something about the number of Malpractice suits that are filed in this country.
It sure is one sided here in D&D. I am no big fan of McCain, but I find it funny now that he is the GOP nominee, he all of a sudden is exactly the same as Bush, now he is the "McSame" no longer the Maverick.
He is not the same as Bush but he does want to continue many of the same policies. He is way better than Bush in my opion, just I like Obama ideas better than his.
You can argue whose policy you want, McCain or Obama. But to call him McSame is obviously trying to tie him to Bush name. Not politics as usual? yeah right.
Ford wasn't Nixon. His policies weren't really that close to Nixon's, but he was tied by being his VP and by promising to extend some of his policies. But in 1976, the country was really tired of Nixon politicians, wanted a clean break, and elected the guy that could give it to them. Everything old is new again.
What major economic or foreign policy differences do you see between McCain and Bush. To me they are very similar. Tax Cuts for the wealthy - same (depending on which way he flip flops) Iraq - same waterboarding torture - same (depending on which way he flip flops)
McCain is no longer a maverick. He made a choice to suck up to the winger base during the primaries (and several years before). In fact, he started to make peace with Bush and tried to bask in his aura soon after 9-11. He is a completely different politician from the one that intrigued so many people in 2000... which will be part of his problem... how to recapture the appeal to independents and conservative Dems while still keeping the wingers fired up about going to the polls. I don't think he's a talented enough politician to pull it off, particularly considering the dynamics of this election year. At any rate, McSame is more accurate than flip-flopper because McCain wants to continue every major Bush policy.
The fact that he has repudiated so many of his "maverick" policies to become the nominee is the obvious cause of this.
Jorge since you are HO HO HO'ing, will you accept the SamFisher electoral challenge? A gentlemen's agreement to refrain from posting in D&D should your chosen candidate falter in the election? You have yet to answer this question.
Maybe it has something to do with agreeing with and voting 95% of the time in the last 4 years with Bush’s policies?
How? What has McCain said he will do differently in the war than Bush? McCain seems to have changed his mind on it, though. He used to agree with the U.S. Army field manual, and then changed his mind to match Bush's position. So while you may believe that he knows now, does that mean that he didn't know before?
The next eight years are going to be so much fun in D&D watching posters twisting in the wind and tilting at windmills. It smells like... VICTORY
