I agree, Five Guys is overrated as all hell. Went there only once, dont know if I'll ever go again unless I just want fries. They give you a buttload of fries which are okay, enough to feed a family and a burger that is the equivalent in taste/size of a BK whopper jr. The fries don't make up for that disappointing burger and make you sick of having them after a bit because there's such an enormous amount.
We've got one coming to my area soon (Jonesboro, AR). I want to see what all the fuss is about. We've also got a Bullritos headed here too and I found out it was Houston based. Reviews?
A. Not a burger joint. It's a chain. B. How is it over rated if you're putting it on the wrong scale?
All these burger joints pale in comparison to Alamo Springs Cafe outside of Fredricksburg. Texas Monthly rated it one of the top 3 burgers in Texas.... Ate there Fri night it was amazing ! DD
There's a 5 Guys right at a Target I go to. Everytime I shop there, I stop at the 5 Guys (good thing I don't shop there too much) I like it WAAY more than In-N-Out (walking distance from where I live). Really its the SEASONING that separates it, not the pure burger and fries. Sorry I'd "cheapen" In-N-Out and go there if they had steak sauce. There's a Sonic across the street from the 5 Guys and I don't even give a thought to go there even if its a little cheaper. Its okay for a chain. 8.3 out of 10.
Oh yah, you prolly haven't been to Shake Shack yet for basically a slightly better Steakburger than Steak and Shake. Yeah, I give the award to Shake Shack very easily. They run away with the award imo.
If you are coming up on 290 towards Fredsburg, take a right on Old San Antonio road, go about 11 miles until you reach the look out point for the Bat cave, then take a right, it is on the right hand side. Closed Tuesdays.....but great outdoor seating and music on the weekends. DD
Never eaten there. But I did try Hubcap Grill the other day (frito pie burger) and it was freakin delicious. Much better than all the hype Carl's and In-and-Out get.
