I’m not sure if I agree with that. But even if I did in some way. I don’t think it makes it less tragic. Looking at it from Hank’s viewpoint only. Looking at the big picture though it was the culmination of essentially the main point of the show’s main plot. Walt’s feeling like a failure in being a public school teacher and working at a car wash while being extremely smart and having no legacy and a company he helped start and getting no credit and money from it. Etc etc etc To leaving a legacy even worse from greed. His son forever hating him. At least that’s the way I see it. I could expound on it further as well. To me it though it’s an epic tragedy. The very last scene of the show is even complicated from so many different variables.
It’s the best show, ever. The only exception might be season one of True Detective. Same level. I couldn’t finish my re-watch. Too damn dark. I would watch a sequel series even if it starred Skinny Pete. Vince Gilligan is a genius. This is the way.
Funny you say that. I love BB but have held off from watching all of BCS. Two main reasons for this was that I had burnout from BB and didn’t want to spoil the show, but I still pulled myself to watch season one. The second reason was because I wanted to watch it all at once and get the same experience as I did with the original. Still haven’t ponied up - but the day is coming and I will savor.
Seen all the shows mentioned. The sopranos fell off in that ending, mad men slow af poor writing in the ending once again, the wire...it’s ok
Man, as someone who watched that show week to week from the first episode onwards as they aired, I am jealous of those who got to binge it. All those cliffhangers and having to wait MONTHS was torture.
I watched the final 3 episodes back to back to back. Can confirm that it was satisfying as hell. Better than any movie.
Easily the best show ever. Not a close 2nd. Highly recommend not watching El Camino, though. Waste of time.
Yeah, it is excellent and definitely one of my all time favorites. I think myself and a handful of clutchfans started talking about it early, when critics loved it but it hadn't blown up yet mainstream in early seasons. I personally have the Wire as the best show all time but I can easily understand someone thinking it's the best for them, it's all subjective.
You are so lucky for watching this for the first time. Wish I could forget the show and re-watch it again! What a ride it was
The greatness of Breaking Bad makes the downfall of Game of Thrones even worse. Game of Thrones was on a trajectory to top Breaking Bad as the greatest television show of all time before they fumbled. The more I think about it, the more it makes me frustrated. I read somewhere that The Sopranos, while maybe not quite as good as some of the subsequent shows that came after it, should get the nod as the greatest show ever because it broke down the barriers of TV storytelling and all the shows that came after it owe Sopranos that debt. It was basically the first show in the new "Golden Age" of TV.
I stand by it. The first 4 seasons of Game of Thrones was a cultural phenomenon with extraordinary characters. It was on a path to greatness. Just like you could claim the greatest SINGLE SEASON of TV ever was first season of True Detective...just couldn't hold the championship belt for full series. That's what makes BB so great. They didn't fumble.
Yeah GOT was pretty awesome until the final few seasons and a travesty at the end. BB is the GOAT however IMO. But apples and oranges wrt style and agree on TD season 1. That was perfection.
My favorite show of all time you are lucky especially with quarantine going on to be watching it for the first time. I binged watched the first 4 seasons on Netflix but the last season I watched in real time which sucked cuz there were weeks in between episodes. My top 5 favorite shows all time in order: Breaking Bad, GoT, Prison Break, Friends, and Entourage
i finally watched it about a year ago and because i had low expectations, i actually enjoyed it more than i expected to. it does a good job of filling in some more of the storyline and they did it in a way where it didn't f*** up the overall story. its basically like an extra long episode. not essential viewing, but if you watched the series id say you should watch it.
id agree - GOT was on track to the be the GOAT and once they got past the books they could not write a story for s*** and they did so many things that did not make sense. they played their audience for dummies and pissed off most of the fans of the show. its just like walking dead - once they got past the source material they totally blew it and they turned all the characters into total morons...just having them run around doing non-nonsensical stuff and putting them in dumb situations just to move the story along. but before that it was perfection.
