If this is a hypothetical, I'd do the following:

    1. Trade a draft choice for Stockton. Keep Mobley

    2. Move Franchise to SG when Stockton is playing. PG otherwise.

    3. Move Cuttino to 6th man/Vinnie Johnson role. Give him lots of time and let him spell Stockton or SF.

Does this guarantee a championship? I don't think so. We may be a pretty good team now, and potentially a really good team, but until Yao has some seasoning and the forwards are healthy I'd not claim that this lineup would be championship caliber.

We need front line guys that can bang with the big boys. Jordan couldn't win without a Horace Grant or Rodman, and the Isiah Thomas teams also had the Worm as well.

    David.

His point is your assertion of him as a leader has no basis. Miller had not once made his cavalier teammates better record wise. Tell us when they ever got 45 wins or heck even 40 under andre.

And now with a much better clipper team, he plays his god-awful former club at home opening night, and LOSES.

    See a trend.

And miller's numbers are not superior to steve's overall, or is he any better than mobley.

The difference between Magic/Thomas, and Stockton/Kidd/Miller is that Magic and Thomas were able to create their own shots. Stockton, Miller, and Kidd have to rely on other players to score consistently. That's why those three are losers.

Francis type players win championships. Stockton type players win division titles. Which would you prefer?

Steve's supporting cast needs to hit shots. It's that simple. His assist numbers will go up when Yao and Eddie come into their own, and the rest of the supporting cast can shoot.

No I wouldn't trade CM for JS, because of the age difference, but I would trade CM for a real point guard, and move SF to shooting guard position. The Rockets are trying to shoot their way into the playoffs, and it rarely works like that. For YM to develope into a confident player, we need a point guard to bring him along, and I just don't see SF being that point guard. Oh, and if JS was 5 years younger, I'd make that trade in a heart beat.

Not sure exactly what his point was, but if we had a pass first point guard like miller instead of francis with the current team, does anyone think we could manage to score more than 65 points per game? Who would score? I mean, it's nice to have a pass first point guard who sets up his teammates, but the teammates still have to put the ball in the hole...I don't think this team has that right now. Although, I think they could in the future.

I definitely want more ball movement, and don't want Steve shooting 29 times!!! But I'm pretty positive that right now I want him to shoot more than Eddie, Yao, Cato, Morris, Rice, Norris, Kenny, Taylor, and Collier. I just think he does a better job at putting the ball in the basket and getting to the free throw line than any of those players. However, I wish he could get his points more in the flow of some sort of offense than just forcing them himself. That would at least get everyone involved, while still allowing Steve and Cuttino to get shots - much easier shots.

But to those of you who think Steve should be a 15 point-10 assist guy, you're kidding yourself. Until I see otherwise, we just don't have any players right now who have proven they can pick up that scoring load. Steve is our best scorer.

Unless the Rockets can score 96 points like the Clips did, saying Francis is more of a leader than Miller is moot.

    I forgot to add:

Miller averaged 16.5 points and 11 assists last year, that's equivalent to 25 points and 6.5 assists(not counting 3 pointers) compared to Francis' 22 points and 6.5 assists.

    What?

    Mobley for Stockton:
I think that we would see our ups and downs. Steve will get to see a hall of fame point guard operate, and maybe learn a few things. But, what happens if Steve/Mo/Kenny/Whoever is injured? Who takes over some of the scoring load? Stockton, at this point, is probably not as capable of getting his own shot off.

And that doesn't even take into consideration the long-term effect...Stockton probably has no more than 2 years left in him.

Anyway, I think that when all is said and done, we will be glad to see Steve running the Point and Cuttino running the wings.
