Agree with Rezdawg pretty much. But that pesky RRoD problem sways it to the PS3 IMO. Anyone has been Red Ringed plays their 360 without 100% carefree enthusiasm. They were basically "David Carr-ed" into fearing the worst at all times.
it pretty overblown imo. I have only had it once in 3-4 years. I shipped it out on a Monday and it was returned on that Friday A much bigger problem is the disc drive for both systems. My 360 and PS3 have both given me trouble in that regard
If you play a game like L4D without a mic, it is literally impossible to play and you will be kicked by the other players. Mics are one of the most important things about online gaming imo. It also makes fps much better because you can coordinate with your team. There really are not that many little kids yelling and if they do, all you have to do is mute them.
Gotta agree here...I got the RRoD about a year ago. It was just yesterday that I was playing Madden and my 360 was making some crazy noises and the framerate kept stalling...I thought my 360 days would be put on hold for some time. Luckily, everything went back to normal. This has been a constant problem for me because I feel like Ive been playing games over the past year with an underlying hope that I will be able to finish playing out my session without a problem.
XBL is worth the money. Theres so much more people on XBL than the PS3. Most my friends have a 360 and the few that have PS3, don't even go online. At the end of the day, its all about preference. $50 or less is a small price to pay for a great on-line experience.
Hey man, my ps3 drive just went kaput last week. Would you be willing to recommend the person that fixed your drive? i'd pay of course.
The failure rate being near 60% on the 360 isn't insignificant IMO. Firsthand experience, I've known a few people that have had 360 issues, usually more than once. A guy in the office finally bought a PS3 after his $#!+ the bed twice. Sorry if that doesn't jive with some of your guys' experiences, thats just what I've seen. I have heard of one person having trouble with the PS3, but from what I understand this guy is good at breaking systems somehow. He's a friend of mine's father-in-law. The guy broke his PS3 like twice and has had more 360 failures. I'm not sure what exactly he does to them. As for online, pretty much all my buddies are on the PSN. I don't know if I live in a weird place in the universe, but I'm just not meeting these overwhelming numbers of people I know firsthand that are on XBL. In the end, again, who cares? Play your system and enjoy it. Thats what I do.
I don't know much about the series, but I heard you could play fall out 3 and not miss much of the background detail, is that correct?
Mine was still under warranty, as it literally stopped reading 2 months after I bought it, so I just sent it in to Sony. It took about a week but you have to have a copy of your receipt to prove you're in warranty. Does anyone else have problems getting into Fallout 3? I've tried three separate times to get into the game and it just isn't doing it for me. Then again, I had the same problem with Oblivion so maybe I'm just not a Bethesda person.
I have to say the mic can be very nice if you're playing a co-op game and you're being serious about it. I love me my Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, and I would find it difficult to play that co-op without talking to my partner. I can see how this same effect would apply for something like Left 4 Dead, though I've never played that online. It was also extraordinarily valuable the few times I played NBA 2K9 co-op online with people who were about winning instead of ball-hogging. Totally pointless for something like Halo deathmatch though.
It's not overblown. The build quality has been crap, and it's been the one sticking point in what the xbox has done this generation. Unforunately for MS, that's a HUGE point. Some people have problems with PS3, sure, but overall the build quality is much better. lol, I don't see how being able to talk to each other in online games is 'overrated'? Party chats across multiple games, co-op modes and team based titles are some of the biggest of this generation. And stuff like Firefight and Horde mode are tons of fun, and useless without being able to communicate. And I've spent some time in Home. 'More mature' my ass. It just seems that way .... you know, because you can't hear them. This is true; thanks to the PS3's slow start, the userbase is skewed toward 360. Some of the biggest games of this generation are going to have a bigger userbase to pull from on 360: Halo, Gears of War, Madden, NCAA, NBA2K, Call of Duty.... that's not something to be overlooked. Beyond that, the integration of Live (party chat, friends list integration across all titles, how the avatar system is integrated now, netflix streaming, for example) has been a big plus. PSN doesnt feel integrated at all...it 'feels' more like a menu option you select. And Home is just pointless.
This is pretty much true. If you look at statistics of the average ages of Xbox 360 owners and PS3 owners, the PS3 owners are older. However, I would expect this to drastically change as a result of the PS3 price drop. Expect to see PSN become much less "mature" as younger players flood onto the network.
PSN is only the more "mature" service because you can't hear the d-bags when they have no mics. Live is 80% good people and 20% 12-year-old idiots but you just hear more about the 12-year-olds because they get on your nerves. There's also the mute button if it bothers you that much. Having had both, PSN doesn't hold a candle to Live in terms of what it can be. The issue is whether or not you're willing to pay 4 bucks a month for it.
That's because Headsets come with many 360/Games bundles The only PS3 bundle that comes with blueray headset was Warhawk as far as I Know. Most people don't feel the need to talk anyway, so they don't go out and spend more on a headset for ps3
dude get real. live is 40% douche/racist/little kid. I agree though. PSN seems more mature bc not many people use mics.
I have a PS3 and 360...I certainly use my Xbox for online play and PS3 for more single player experiences. The structure of the Xbox just seems more geared to multiplay compared to single player.
On the 360, in games like Left 4 Dead and Gears of War, if you don't have a mic, you are booted by the rest of the players. Some games are just too hard to play without mics. Mics enhance the online experience a lot.
People are willing to pay.... so that's not an issue. If you were to ask a video gamer right now that was unbiased, he would pick Xbox Live over PSN, I can probably tell you that most people would. PSN has slowly took many ideas from Wii and Xbox, making it better... but honestly it's not at the top. I'd also like to add that Project Natal, when it comes out, will eventually show people that the Xbox is the top-notch system over the PS3, unless Sony decides to copy Microsoft.
90% of the people I hear on Call of Duty for PS3 are 10 year olds that just learned how to cuss. The other 10% are adults that have their babies screaming in the background.
