Uncharted is a greatest hit and worth the price, as is MGS4. One of my favorites, personally, is Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. Not sure if that one is a greatest hit, but it is awesome. It went under the radar a bit considering the franchise. Little Big Planet is fun too, but I'd probably get one of the other ones first unless you have kids or are pretty creative.
It's funny about each person's story. I have all 3 systems and in the last 6 months, I've turned my 360 on a total of 3 times. The Wii is completely irrelevant though. Everything, and I mean everything, I've wanted to play is on the PS3 and I like the quietness/slickness of the PS3 compared to the 360. The only thing exclusively on the 360 that I want to play is Shadow Complex. Of course when Mass Effect comes out, it'll be a different story. I believe about 2 months back, there was an update to NXE? Haven't downloaded it yet.
you just made my point for me. i dont give a **** about graphics, thats why i bought an xbox. if you wanna play those games then play it on your ps2. when buying a ps3 you buy it if you value the graphics boost and because you value some games that the ps3 only has to offer. the ps2 games from several years back should not affect your decision. If you really want to play those games, whip out your ps2, or buy one for 50 bucks, because just like you said "its not all about graphics."
Not sure if you mean any games or exclusive-only, but... (price estimates for used copies) Great non-exclusives: ($15) Burnout Paradise ($15) Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter 2 ($20) Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 ($30) Fallout 3 Great exclusives: ($25) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune ($25) Ratchet & Clank Future ($30) LittleBigPlanet ($30) Valkyria Chronicles ($35) Killzone 2 MGS4 and inFamous are supposed to be great exclusives as well, but I've barely played either.
I do agree that if people really wanted to play PS2 games (including more recent games, like Persona 4 and Devil Summoner 2), they should just keep a PS2 around. But the PS3 really should offer this feature IMO, and it does improve the PS2 games quite a bit IMO (e.g., virtual memory cards over physical memory cards). I think they are working on a sequel...at least unofficially. I seem to remember some interview with EA about this. Sounded like they were thinking about bringing it back, although they needed to do some testing. And technically, there was a Wii SSX game, although I guess you could argue next-gen = PS3/360 and Wii = new-gen (or whatever). For PS2 games, correct. PS1 games play fine though. Anyway, as for my recommendations, most of them have already been mentioned. I'd probably throw in Burnout Paradise, which I recently got for $20 (edit: This was new, so probably $15 used like Drexlerfan22 said). Lots of fun, and I'm not the biggest fan of racing games. Also got Folklore for $20, which I played/finished when it originally came out. It is one of my favorite PS3 games, although I don't know if I'd strongly recommend it. If you can overlook its flaws, it is a great game IMO.
Seconded, thirded, fourthed, and fifthed! SSX3 is one of the greatest games ever, period. Even though I was disappointed with SSX On Tour, it baffles me that there hasn't been another one. I'm going to borrow from a post I made in the last Wii topic... RE4 (Benefits greatly from Wii interface) Okami (brush powers with the Wiimmote much?) Wii Sports Resorts Smash Brothers Brawl Mario Kart Wii Zelda: Twilight Princess Mario Galaxy No More Heroes Trauma Center: New Blood Gamecube version of Mario Strikers ...to me, all of those are A or A+ titles. I'll be the first to say I use my PS3 the most, but the Wii is anything but a waste. It has few good games, but the ones that are good are REALLY good (kinda like the N64... history repeats itself). My 360 is easily more neglected than my Wii. If it weren't for Tales of Vesperia (which is coming to the PS3 with extras anyway), I would barely have turned my 360 on in the past year, save for Castle Crashers (which also is coming to the PS3).
idk if this is what he meant but when you have all 3 systems, you tend to play the Wii and either the PS3 or the 360.
I have both the PS3 (the oldest one which is also the best one) and the Xbox 360... I don't see how PS3 is much smoother.
I'm actually working my way through that game right now. Love the series, and that might lead me to getting a Wii. Don't count on ToV getting localized though. It probably will, but Namco is notorious for not localizing even some of their better Tales games.
No joke. This is the only game so far that I've started a new game immediately upon completion... and kept playing. Finished the good story and I'm about 65% through the Evil path now (inFamous.) At first, it's a little unnerving to slaughter innocent people and commit heinous evil acts... but I'm starting to get used to it. 10/10
I played the exact opposite, and I had to stop myself from blowing everything up when playing as good. I'd recommend Infamous if you can get it cheap. Batman is probably a slightly better game. This is an outstanding month for PS3. Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Ratchet and Clank, and Fallout 3 GOTY. True, two of those are multiple platform, but I want to play all of those games NOW.
I just did a double-take. Those all come out on the same day (October 13th). Definitely will be grabbing on Uncharted 2 immediately, and I rarely buy anything but sports games full price. Speaking of which, FIFA 10 comes out on the 20th... sheesh, my wallet hurts.
