passing the background checks takes anywhere from 3-5 minutes. If you ever had a felony, or here on a visa, or illegal, pretty much can save your time in trying to get one legally. Illegally buying one, the process is much easier, but if busted with it, straight to the big house(especially if serial numbers are filed down)
damn that's it? Thought we had to wait five days. not bad. any good places to buy an Ak-47? jusssssst kidding. Wouldn't mind shooting a gun for target practice though.
I just buy hunting rifles mostly, and a few pistols here and there. To purchase a fully auto, I do believe you need proper permits to obtain them here in Texas. Could be wrong, so maybe that's where the 5 day wait is. But for a regular ole pistol, you just fill out the paperwork while they run your background. If you pass, buy pistol and go home to clean it(even if you bought it brand new)
If you do happen to find one and try to pick it up. Make sure it says Henderson,NV on it. These are the improved models with the safety features. From what I have been reading on it, all the guns they made in Cali should be scrapped and melted down. I do happen to trust the Henderson,Nevada models. It's not a CCW, but it's perfect for keeping in the car. Just make sure to keep it clean after every shoot, and you'll have no problems with it. Just ran a box of 50 FMJ's(95 grain) through it this morning when I got it back from the gun-smith. Gun jammed twice on first 2 shots this morning. Put in 10 instead of 12 in the magazine, and everything ran smooth, didn't jam one time since then. Gun kind of kicks like a mule. and it wants to bite. This is a good gun to keep in car, and take to the shooting range to put some cheap lead on targets. It's deadly accurate, I mean VERY VERY accurate. I don't think my Glock 9 is this accurate. Overall.. it's really not that bad of gun.
used to be a much better shooter when I was younger. Just getting back into shooting actually. instead of dropping 1500 at the casinos, I think I'll start working on my gun collection.
Let's not be too hasty now. You can do both  I hear ya actually. I used to go out to Vegas 2-3 times a year. Kids have slowed that down to once every year and a half or so. I did start to purchase firearms myself. HK USP Compact .40 and Colt 6920 AR as a start. Just have to educate the kids once they get older and get a gun safe or something.
I bought my glock last year, I was so busy then I couldn't even get around to shooting it until about 5-6 months ago. I want a .45 but haven't found one I really like.
HK UMP 45 or the Vector shoot .45. The Vector's rate of fire is niiiice. I know, you probably meant handgun, but you know.
