Buying a cheap gun because it is cheap can also be dangerous. Cheap guns from little known manufacturers have a greater chance of hang firing and jamming. It would be better to pay more and get a reliable pistol.
Don't do anything to that gun -- if it doesn't work now there is no reason to put more money into it. It's a very cheap gun and should have cost you about $50 bucks used in good condition and it doesn't sound like that gun is in good condition.
A 9MM for $125? I had 22 cal pistols that cost twice as much as this. Looks like a ghetto gun. I would not mess with this cheap piece of crap. Not sure if you can sell it back to recover some money. You could have bought a much better brand new gun made by a reputable manufacturer for about $150 extra Hopefully yours came with an instruction manual and contact info for the people who make it. If not, here it is. You may need it: http://jimenezarmsinc.com/janine.htm
and the problem is ammo costs so much these days, the cost of your gun really becomes less important if you actually plan to shoot it. 150 bucks is nothing in ammo and practicing with the gun you actually plan to depend on is a BIT important.
cleaned the gun from top to bottom. fired off a few rounds, works better than my glock. Very fun gun to shoot, fired off a full clip, no jams, no stovepiping. Was firing just generic full metal jackets. Will put it through some more testing next weekend, but this gun is very accurate. Was putting it dead on from about 23-24 yards out. Not a bad gun at all, very fun to use.
all the gunk was cleaned easily with Gun Scrub, and a wire brush. Cleaned it for a good while. Every thing works beautiful with this gun.

This video is funny and at about 8 minutes they start getting crazy -- shoving huge bolts down the barrel and firing high load rounds... and they just can't make it blow up.

Good for you glad you didn't get ripped off -- you could have probably gotten it cheaper, but for a throw away that goes bang it's not a bad deal. The good thing about cheap guns for home protection is you can leave them out and accessible for protection, but when you are out of the home (at work/ etc.) and someone breaks in and robs you it doesn't hurt as bad. Losing that $1000 gun that wasn't locked in the gun safe hurts, but something $200 or less isn't quite as bad.
Nothing wrong with a cheap gun that you know will fire at least 5 shots without fail. I keep one in the car (Lugar LC9), bedroom (Glock 21) and kitchen (S&W 9mm) so having an affordable backup is always a good deal.
