I don't think it's ego on Cuban's part. As with anything it comes down to money. This is just Cuban trying to knock down youtube which he sees as a potential future competitor with his HD channel. He specifically said that advertisers would be much smarter getting spots on his HDtv channel than advertising on youtube.
