Did yall not watch the Bulls/Celtics series?? Ben Gordon is just a glorified and more clutch version of Luther Head.

He has ZERO basketball IQ, he doesn't know the meaning of the word pass. He dribbles into traps, he shoots every shot he sees, and he's not a starting shooting guard in this league.

He's a great player to bring off the bench, but if he made a pass or two in that series, there would be abotu 3 less overtimes than there was.

Comparing him to any good to great guard is an insult. He is a glorified chucker...and an idiot for turning down 11 million dollars per year.

I didn't know you still had the custom Tracy McGrady knee pads.

dumb thread. thanks for stating the obvious. would've loved a healthy mcgrady ALL SEASON! if tmac was healthy, i think there be any doubt that tmac would be useful on this team. the fact is, he isnt.

we dont want mcgrady because 1.) he's not healthy 2.) he's not showing the passion and effort

I think a more accurate statement is that we need that 23 million dollar roster slot to be healthy. Be that McGrady or a player or two that it brings back in trade.

Its crazy how this board is so divided. Everyone damn well knows if we had a healthy Houston Rockets team this team would be hard to beat. Its crazy how much bandwagon fans are here

The rockets lose a game most people are blaming the coach or player and saying trade this guy for that guy. When the rockets win the coach is the best coach he deserves this he deserves that. Appreciation threads pop out of nowhere.

The Lakers are a good damn team who right now has all their players healthy. Without a doubt if McGrady was healthy he would have contributed in more ways. The ball wouldn't be in Brooks hands all the time and Ron Artest wouldn't have to play point forward.

Guys need to chill out. Its only 2-1. Its not over til its over.

You are of course only partly right!!!
A healthy Tracy McGrady will be welcome back onto the team only if and when he is able to play his new role on the team. This role will require him to become a spot up shooter, instead of being a semi playmaker who mostly looks for his own shot. There is also the off chance that Tracy could become a true playmaking Point Guard and Brooks, playing a very much reduced role as a spot up three point shooter! :p

If McGrady was on this team right now. Artest would have knocked his teeth out by now since they were feuding a bit earlier this year.

I find it absolutely funny when T-Mac fans say this team is so much better than those other T-Mac teams. T-Mac and Artest couldn't get along even if their lives were at stake.

Now just imagine Aaron Brooks still running Point. You would have 3 ball-stoppers who are volume shooters. Nothing good there.

With a heathy McGrady we would have never made it to the 2nd round.

Since when has a healthy TMac been a ball stopper? All superstar perimeter guards have the ball in their hands a lot, I agree. But McGrady has ALWAYS been a willing passer. JVG has constantly praised him so.

I'm not a TMac only fan by any measure. I'm saying this team could definitely use his offense and ability to create against a superior offensive squad. This guy has the ability to play great D when motivated. You guys do remember how he shut Dirk's ass down in playoffs back in 04-05, right?

Now, we are talking about him when motivated?

Why not talk about Yao Ming being athletic and mobile for crying out loud. You are asking McGrady to do two things he never has and never will do in his career and that's play with motivation and when healthy.

I'd rather get his cousin even though he's just as lazy and unmotivated as Tracy, but at least he's productive.

A REAL starting POINT GUARD, one that can control an offense, get the team under control, make the right decisions and post feed and a legit backup 4/5 with size that can play with Yao, that can play with Scola/Landry/Hayes, that can spread the floor and also start if needed.

That's what the Rockets really need. Sure a healthy T-Mac would be great, but when has he ever been healthy. Sadly, I think that ship has sailed.

We would have been the number one or two seed with the at least 60 wins had everyone remained relatively healthy (I'm sure the Lowry trade would have still happened).

    Brooks
    TMAC
    Battier
    Scola
    Yao

    Artest
    Lowry
    Wafer
    Landry
    Barry
    Hayes
    White or Dorsey

That's a damn deep team. It's too bad McGrady didn't work out his knee over the summer like he should have.

I think Rockets're gonna rack their brains over how to deal with TM next season. it could be better to trade TM and AB for Ben Gordon and Ivy before all-star game next year!

I actually think this year off is going to change McGrady and make him the player we need when he comes back. I think he is getting to see his mates develop, getting to watch Brooks and Lowry grow up. I think there is a good chance his mentality changes of thinking he has to make every play and when he comes back he will be willing to fit into a role with Yao and Artest. Kenny Smith said it best. This is a team of pit bulls surrounding Yao. McGrady is not a pit bull. That is why it is essential that we retain Artest and Battier and the rest of the guys. A healthy McGrady right now would probably have us up 2-1 or 3-0 if he was willing to play a role. Can you imagine that matchup problems the Lakers have against us with McGrady, Artest, Brooks, Yao, and Scola all on the floor at the same time? You can't leave anybody in that lineup. You gotta guard and get help on everybody because all 5 guys can take their man. Think about it.

In this series, LA is going small and fast to break down our half court advantage.

What if we could start Yao/Hayes/Artest/Battier/Brooks

and bring Scola/McGrady/Wafer/Lowry off the bench? LA has to keep downsizing to be quicker. We can downsize to Scola at the 5, surrounded by Artest/McGrady/Wafer/Brooks or Artest/McGrady/Brooks/Lowry if we want to get even smaller.

Or we can go HUGE with Yao/Scola/McGrady/Artest/Battier. We could create our own mismatches all over the floor. There are so many combinations that we could force the opponents to constantly have to adjust to what we are doing instead of us adjusting to what they are doing.

Give this team another year playing together and maturing, then bring McGrady back towards the end of the season................off the bench.........specifically in a scorer's role........and I think you have the makings of a champion. We are giving LA all they can handle right now. With McGrady operating in a proper role, we would be beating 'em.

Now think about what you just said. If everyone was healthy then i doubt the trade would have happened. Why would you break up something that doesn't need to be fixed?? Lowry would have still been on the Grizzlies watching the playoffs right about now. Skip would have still been here instead of in Orlando smacking people.

Agree with your post except for one thing. I don't think McGrady will ever come off the bench. I mean earlier in the season he was out for an amount of time with his knee injury. Came back and was automatically in the starting lineup. I don't think anything is going to change. If McGrady is able to play then he is going 2 start. Point blank.
