Poke fun if you want, but coming up with these deranged conclusions was fun and should be taken light heartedly.

I think that there is something to it other than the literal meaning because of the way it was worded, unless Doc was hammered. Then this post makes complete sense.

I mean come on, "This is related to roster moves but Rockets are giving away a truck?" I'd like to think that Doc is throwing us a bone here.

so people think we are just making a big deal out of a post about a car giveaway. this is why i think this post should not be taken literally.

seems to be kinda normal, he says it is related to roster moves but then starts talking about the truck...alright, i guess that is a tangent. why when a person asks you a question and you dont answer it and start talking about promotions that everyone knows about beats the heck out of me, but lets continue.

can somebody tell me why the rockets slumping and not making any moves have anything to do with winning this promotion? and the number doesnt even seem right...but whatever, okay.

it seems like we are jumping back and forth here. he is all excited about the giveaway (alright...whatever floats the doc's boat i guess) but then what does giving a truck have to do with the benefit of the team. it is so legit, it makes you nervous? it just doesnt make sense.

well at least this sounds like he is talking about the giveaway. i dont think CC.NET is much...maybe it is, or maybe it is just habit?

biting the bullet? it isnt like les or the rockets org buys the truck. i would think toyota gives them out...and if they are giving out the truck out of their own pockets...it isnt anything AMAZING. i mean it is pretty cool, but...what is $30k to them?

soooo, i feel this post is very fishy. i got no clue what it means...but i dont think he is just talking about a truck.

Remember Doc's prior post - he said JVG was overheard saying send someone to Atlanta! Atlanta is one of the few teams under the salary cap, with a total cap figure around $42 million. That means we can GIVEAWAY salary to Atlanta, and get little or nothing in return. The players to be given away are:

    RATT (Rafer Alston)
    DOKKEN (DereK andersEN)
    KISS (Stromile Swift)

What would we get in return? A TRADE EXCEPTION. Up to $10.5 million. This would be a credit card we could use for shopping around trade deadline time, if the team is still in contention. Or perhaps for Peja in a sign and trade next summer.

Depending on what Atlanta gave up in draft picks for Joe Johnson.

Because the only person who "heard" the rumor was a random on ESPN messageboard. 99.9% sure it was made up, under those circumstances.

Okay, so there's a 99.9% chance that we won't be getting Marbury. Shew! Thank God.

So, who are we going to get?

RATT-Ruben Patterson or Ron Artest or Rafer Alston or Tim Thomas??

    Dokken-George Lynch or Derek Andersen

    KISS-Kidd and Stromile Swift

    legit legit giveaway-?????

    car, truck-????

The Chron mentioned us petitioning for the ability to sign another FA, and that the Rockets would sign one as soon as they could. Doc mentioned that RATT, etc. stuff in the last Lynch thread, so maybe George is coming if the league lets us get another player..

IMO, we will be the team that "gives away" players we don't want likely in exchange for low picks or something. So if anything, I don't see the possibility of us getting a player to help us out, but rather give away players we have been disappointed in so far this season.

Stromile's name was written in RED for no apparent reason in the first post. That could indicate Atlanta also.

duh! i'm sure everyone caught that already, but failed to mention it for some reason or another. of course doc meant to spell it as "somone". so either mo or ne... which means either a reacquisition of mo taylor now that he's been a knick (which is more likely because we all know about jvg and former knick players) or nene has rehabed quicker than anybody can imagined and cd is ready to pull the trigger on a trade.

    SOLVED.

    Guys,

Maybe Doc was drinking too much when he typed it, so it sounded kinda weird. :D

I wouldn't have been able to type such a weird email if I am not drunk :p

If Doc's post is literal, it would be odd indeed. I think his first line says it all.

Looks to me like we are lottery bound — or trading someone (Swift?) for a non-protected first round pick — and that are looking to dump as much dead weight as possible this year (lots of giveaways). If I am not mistaken, doesn't the 14th team in the lottery have about a 1:300 chance of getting the top pisk? Actually, I think closer to 1:250.

Also, "biting the bullet" usually refers to enduring some temporary pain.

I just can't see Doc getting that worked up about a truck, or Rockets management being that nervous about a $28K giveaway.
