No, Shaq's situation was exactly the same as KG's. He was a free agent and he resigned with Miami for less than the maximum that they were allowed to pay him. Restructuring is changing the terms of an existing deal. Shaq's contract had already expired.

I disagree. That deal doesn't really make the Nets better. I believe that Jefferson can bring more value in return than that. I guess it depends on how much you value Patterson, but realistically he's been a career backup.

I thought that too the first time I read it. Seems the couterargument is, "Why is he going nuts over a f***ing truck". I don't know. Maybe it really does intrigue him. [shrugs]

Yah, I am leaning towards the "taking it literally" crowd, I just can't see what anyone can get out of what Doc said, besides I don't think he's that good with encrypted messages.

I think Doc Rocket IS TRG...

Well, of course there is no other explanation than legendary CC.Net poster Trader_Jorge (TJ) winning the truck (Ford). TJ Ford. Makes sense, with Mo Williams (23 years old) playing so well at guard and also the presence of Michael Redd in the backcourt.

This has to be a clue because it is such a bizarre statement.

Legit - Legit? Hmm... we don't really have anything 'legit' to give away other than Yao or TMac. Not sure what this means, since these guys hopefully aren't on the trading block.

Here is my attempt at this one:
RATT = Ron Artest or Rafer Alston? one of those (RA) + Tim Thomas? (TT)
DOKKEN = Derek Anderson + Toni Kukoc + Ersan Ilysova
    KISS = ??? KIdd + Stromile Swift?

and the truck and the car, ford.
Notice doc used the word "car" once, not a truck.

It's a five player trade, rockets are trading RA plus DA plus SS for Ford and someone else.

From my recollection of all Doc's posts, he is literal, unless he is purposely and obviously cryptic. Usuall he is cryptic so he doesn't get in trouble with his sources.

What is valuable about Doc, isn't so much whether his information actually comes to fruition, as much as it's insider information, helping us know what the Rocket's are thinking behind the scenes, and just because they are thinking or trying, doesn't necessarily mean they pull off a deal. He's told us everything from Tito Mattox sucks and is a bad guy to JVG thinks this about that player to giving up management perspective ahead of the game on the Ming and McGrady acquisitions. If I recall correctly, he told us about the Griffin trade in advance. But, the value isn't whether things actually come true 100%, but that we find out what they are trying to do before they happen, and how various players are being viewed behind the scenes. Its "inside information." Now, it has been obvious, that since Rudy T left, and then Francis, his information has been reduced. But, for those who've been around awhile on this BBS, he has been verified by Clutch as a very legitimate insider and given us a lot of stuff that you'd never find from any other news source.

So, now, he found out from inside the organization, that they were doing a giveaway on a truck that is worth tens of thousands of dollars tonight with incredible odds. Not 1 out of 30,000 or 300,000, but odds of 1 out of 300. The probability of everyone on this BBS who is going to the game registering for the truck and actually winning it could be high. Now, that's insider information. In fact, the truck showed up on the Rocket's website.

When Doc is giving us something cryptic, it's obvious that it is. But, sometimes, various posters get excited about the possibilities and come up with all sorts of stuff that is fantasy, and I've never seen any of those turn into anything.

So, I will be waiting for New Year's Eve to come by instead of taking it easy this Christmas break. I just hope something comes out of this post that is 100% positive for the Rockets.

Doc Rocket actually works for the Rockets.

He's being a corporate shill. He wants us to go to the game.

Okay, here are my conspiracy theories.

Maybe we are getting Andrei Kirilinko.

He is from Russia which is basically, the Frozen Tundra.

Let's examine the last line in the first paragraph.

Giving away a Truck that night. Who on the roster is a freaking Truck?
Lonny Baxtor is the only one I can think of.

Maybe Dikembe Mutumbo, but he is more of a train. "You don't run towards the train."

Okay, it's noted that McGrady and Vince Carter are related. Brent and Jon Barry are related. Stan Van Gundy is related to Jeff, but he no longer coaches the Heat. Then you got Joey Graham, who is related to Stephen Graham.
Maybe we are bringing somebody home and their family members are from Houston, and they want to see this player.
Who are some players from Houston or the Houston area that play in the NBA?

Rashard Lewis, T.J. Ford, Daniel Ewing, Emeka Okafor, Gerald Green, Damon Jones, Lawrence Roberts, Who else am I forgetting?

Of those guys I can think of, only Daniel Ewing, and Damon Jones, and Lawrence Roberts are guys I can think of that the other teams would trade.
Then maybe Rashard Lewis. I would think Milwaukee would want to keep Ford, and Charlotte is building around Okafor. They say Gerald Green will be a special player, so Boston may not want to trade him.

I'mm to lazy to figure out the rest.
