Nike, Agreed. You can definitely blow up the deal to a big enough size where the BYC amount gets covered in the allowed 25% difference. That's why I said nearly impossible rather than impossible. In my opinon, there's no way that the Rockets give up two expiring deals (Wesley and Norris) and take on Robinson and Jackson. We'd be looking at the luxury tax next season. As you also agreed, there's little chance of Thorn doing that deal. This rumor is simply another case of creative writing by TRG.
That seems pretty logical, although we could be just waiting for the other team to pull the trigger — "and he says he's listening for some action." As usual, Doc throws out what seems at first to be a mixed message. This sounds like we are getting nothing (or maybe 5 picks) in return — "Not sure why I find this so fascinating but the Rockets are actually doing a legit - legit giveaway (Which intrigues me to no end). I know people give away things but it always seems to benefit the team." Sounds more like a lottery pick coming this way than anything else. Also sounds like the deal is "legit", meaning that it's likely to happen. This team is really talent poor at several positions. With Yao and Tracy relatively young, it would not be surprising to see a "giveaway" that benefits the future. It would be surprising to see someone like Jefferson coming here in return.
Jeez, you people are taking all of this the wrong way. Use your heads! Doc says he's listening for some action, but all he can hear is Ratt, so clearly the rumors are going "Round and Round" in the Rockets' camp but all that's certain is that our injured players will be "Back 4 More." When Doc says all he hears is Dokken, he's obviously alluding to the fact that the Rockets have fallen "Into the Fire" but are fighting "Tooth and Nail" to get out. Rockets fans have to BELIEVE, have to become "Dream Warriors" in order to spur our team on to victory. This is where Doc gets weird. By saying that he hears Kiss, Doc could be saying that the Rockets are about to make a great move or trade, causing us fans to want to "Lick it Up." But then again, it could be a plea for better fan attendance at the games, with Doc explaining "I Love it Loud." On yet another hand, possibly he's saying that in a time of such strife, we should merely count our blessings. Sure, the team stinks right now, but hey, at least "God Gave Rock and Roll to You." All in all, a pretty cryptic message that one must be well-versed in some of the world's worst hair metal to decipher.
OK, my wild guess: A three-way deal involving Indiana & Seattle. Indiana trades Artest & Anthony Johnson to Seattle. Seattle trades Rashard Lewis to us. We trade Swift, Wesley & 1st to Indiana. That is 5 PEOPLE PICKED (players involved), one of which played in KEY Arena. Lewis was also pulled over in his CAR AT NIGHT for a DUI and probably is trying to get it taken care of using some LEGAL JARGON. That is what is holding the deal up right now. We trade our #1 which, because we're SLUMPING AND NOT MAKING ANY MOVES, it's worth more. We are BITING THE BULLET because of Lewis' salary. It makes THEM NERVOUS as well because they are trading depth, which is already bad because they have had GIVEAWAYS (injuries) all year long. And, probably someone on CC.NET knows Lewis personally since he went to Elkins H.S. We then sign George Lynch to add some depth back (hence the refference earlier in the thread). Alston/Head/Moochie/Barry TMac/Anderson/Barry/Head/Graham Lewis/Lynch/Bowen Howard/Bowen/Baxter Yao/Deke/Baxter Lewis gives us another scorer, plus a guy who can defend and rebound. Gives us a post up threat while Yao is out, but can easily adjust when Yao returns. OK, fantasy over.
That is intresting mogrod. Bringing Lewis back would be like a family thing wouldnt it? Lewis would be awesome to have if he would have us.
then what did Shaq do when he changed his contract to $20 mill/year for 5 years? isn't that pretty much restructuring his contract?
At first, i thought you guys were just being silly and he was really talking about the truck giveaway, but upon reading it a second time, this is no doubt an encrypted post. "I think they're giving away a freaking truck that night!" "Not sure why I find this so fascinating but the Rockets are actually doing a legit - legit giveaway (Which intrigues me to no end). I know people give away things but it always seems to benefit the team. But he said this is so freaking legit that it makes them nervous because they're having these type of BIG giveaways all year long." "The Rockets fans have NO IDEA all the stuff we're doing and this truck thing is scary because we're biting the bullet on the giveaway!" Quotes like these seem to point toward an Artest trade, ie: Indiana "giving away Artest" and the Rockets "biting the bullet" and taking such a big risk.
I don't know, since I have been on the boards (for about 4 years now), I haven't really seen Doc Rocket's predictions come to fruition...but may be I missed something or a thread here and there. Not saying he isn't right, because it doesn't surprise me in the least bit that management would be looking to make changes (radical ones at that). I am just saying I don't see anything major going on that will seriously benefit the team, because whatever we do, we'll be doing it from an extremely weak position since teams know we're desperate with all the injuries and stuff. Also, it will have to definitely be an Eastern Conf team, so New Jersey or NYK or Indiana might make some sense.
What if it's a three way deal and Thorn gets Ruban Patterson out of it? The Nets are trying to make a deal for Ruban Patterson. So if I'm Thorn in this situation and I can turn RJ, Marc Jakson, Mcinnis, or Robinson into Patterson, Swift, Wesley and another player, i'd pull the trigger on it. I have to think the Nets don't see anything wrong with getting Vince Carter more shots, especially with the way he is playing of late. And they get their defensive player in Patterson and add more depth with Wesley and his expiring contract and they get their atheletic power forward. It's not so far fetched you know.
In my opinion, I would call Artest a truck. Anyways, from the way it sounds, one team is getting a steal, while the other is practically GIVING AWAY expiring contracts. "Normally when a team has a giveaway, it benefits the team..."
Last night on TNT David Aldridge reported that the rockets were trying to trade for Wilcox but the clip's will not trade him to us.
LMFAO! very good....you realize that there are only a handful of us on this board that would/will get all the references you listed. frikkin AWESOME.
RATT is Ron ARTesT. DOKKEN is DereK andersEN KISS is Stromile Swift We're trading Stromile and DA for Artest. Maybe a couple other players thrown in.
