RATT, DOKKEN and KISS TRADE SS (Stromile Swift) TO KNIKK. Pretty obvious, if you asked me. I agree that the 1-300 odd has to do with lottery. The Knicks are lottery bound. So we are getting a lotto pick for Swift. Now, the truck part. I don't know. I like Toyota trucks better than Ford. TJ is out of the question. Wait, Toyota has Camry. Camry = Camby, an ex-Knick! So maybe we are "giving away" our lottery pick (assuming we don't make the playoffs this year) and Swift for Camby (who happens to be a big man).
in addition to this, Denver is currently the last team to miss the playoffs. that would give them a .5% chance of landing the top pick. 1 in 300 = 0.333% not far off.... that being said, I wouldn't be real excited about getting camby. he's old and rarely healthy. but he is a former JVG guy. and we apparently can't get enough of those can we....
when i first read doc's post before i went to bed last night i was thinking man thats one weird post by doc why all the hoopla over a giveaway? then as i was laying in bed i was like wait that must be just a crypted message like he usually does. and sure enough when i wake up this morning everyone is already trying to decode it. my guess is that its probably rattliff, lynch (who has said he wanted to come here earlier remember?) and possibly RJ. i think the the whole biting the bullet maybe getting a large large contract (RJ) in return. i dont think it necessarily means us giving up a lot of talent (not that we have much outside of yao and tracy) and getting little in return
That makes sense. Biting the bullet could also mean giving up on this season, but it seems unlikely they'd do that so early on. Like you, I think it means they take on huge salary in return. Is it scary simply because of dollars and length of term, or is it scary because of health or productivity left in player involved? Is it an RJ(is he really worth the long term money)? Is it a Kidd(how much play does he have left)? Is it a KG("we can't believe he's available to us, but can we pay him, TMac and Yao")? Whatever's coming, it sounds like a last ditch effort to save the season that either pays huge dividends or ends up being a huge albatross down the road.
Does the "5" refer to: A. players involved in trade B. Rockets players traded to make salaries match C. uniform number of player coming (Kidd) D. uniform number of player going (Howard) E. other?
I respect Doc fully, but I do think he LOVES sitting back and watching all of speculate over the stuff he writes. If he got on one day and started a thread and all it said was E=MC 2 it would be a 10 page thread and I think he likes that.
I dont know if KG is available because it seems Minn is having a pretty good year thus far. Anyway how would we be able to get him without giving up yao or t-mac. I would like to keep yao and tmac together at least 2-3 full season before giving up on either one of them together. I dont know if its possible to re-structure t-macs contract much like the way KG did 2 seasons ago to get spree and sam. of course this would require a lot of cooperation on t-mac part *if* and i do mean *if* it came down to that. i dont know if tracy would do that but who knows. i think that it would be jefferson rather than kidd coming here. as much as we need a point guard right now, kidd's up tempo play does not fit well with yao (once he is back) and when sura and alston is back that leaves us with too many pgs. jefferson has had ball handling experience (he was by himself last year when kidd was injured) and even with his ugly contract a safer bet for now and the future. it would also relieve tmac a lot more at the 2/3 guard spot where we lack a lot of height and athelticism but this is a riddle wrapped in an enigma shrouded in a mystery to say the least. oh yeah because of the "new years promotion" thing i believe the deal will probably go down before jan 1st, its probably the 'legal' paperwork that is holding it up.
Too much for us or the Nets? I would love this deal for us right now. You add another 20ppg scorer in which we are in desperate need of, a decent big man that can fill in for Yao and maybe play some PF when he gets back, and a decent PG that COULD be the same calibur as Alston.
joey graham from toronto with going with your family? since we got his other bro. this big giveaway...it doesnt seem like it will benefit us much show up and win a car? trading one of our free agent signings? or maybe he is just really hyped up about the truck... haha right.
- You can't restructure deals, the CBA doesn't allow it. KG signed a new contract for a lower salary that he could have...he didn't restructure an existing deal. - Jefferson is in the first year of his new deal and he's a full BYC player until July '06. Without a team with cap space being involved, it's next to impossible for the Rockets to trade for Jefferson. Because of that and the fact that NJ would never ever trade Jefferson just to get Swift, I'd have to think that this is just another fabrication by TRG.
With the trade restrictions relaxed, it's actually easier than you might think. On the assumption that we can drug Rod Thorn, a trade of Jefferson, Jackson, and Clifford Robinson for Swift, Norris, and Wesley works. New Jersey would have 17.25 mill in outgoing salaries and be able to take back 15.28 mill (12.15*1.25+100K due to RJ's BYC value). Houston would have have in 14.27 mill outgoing salaries and be able to take back 17.9375 mill. Additionally, we still have a pair of small trade exceptions for 1.4 and 1.1 mill left over from last year's deadline deals. We could take on a guy like Jacque Vaughn ($1 mill) if we needed to massage the numbers more. But again, this is all on the assumption we can drug Rod Thorn.
Oh, forgot to add one more thing: SAY NO TO RICHARD JEFFERSON! The man is not worth any of the money he's getting and he won't make us a contender. I would much rather have a Ruben Patterson than him any day of the week. Besides, we already have a SF, and I prefer to have McGrady play there. His contract is horrendous, please we're not that desperate, I don't see how that helps us at all to have nearly three max contract players. I hope the Rockets' brass are not crazy enough or impatient enough to pull a stupid deal like that. No emotional decisions, please.
