I was looking out at stars when an idea hit me. Technically we could look into our very own past. We couldn't visit it but we could look and observe it being we had the technology. Hear me out. If the light from the stars I'm looking at are visuals of what they were 1,000 to millions of years ago then all we would need to do is build a craft that travels faster then the speed of light, go off into space far enough and look back to see earth as it was in the past. Make calculations and who knows 'each week traveled past the speed of light could correspond to a earth year or 100 earth years'. So if we traveled whatever distance past the speed of light to have the measurements meet up to 6000 or so earth years then we could even see the Egyptians build the pyramids. Well we could if we created some kind of high def magnifying telescope that could look back in high detail otherwise we would just see a dim light being earth in the far distance. What I'm saying is, if we are ever able to develop a craft that could surpass the speed of light then factually we could look into our very own past. Now Toycen, this is for you. Orbs and those UFO 'Lights' could very well be an advanced alien race (OR EVEN US IN THE FUTURE) that is really just sitting back observing us. Those phenomena could very well have to do with the magnifying telescope thing like a ray or reflection from it. ~Puts the pipe down~ PS: Global warming is caused by the other stars fiery heat hitting the magnifying telescope thing directed to observe us without realizing they are sending heat. Kind of in the way we could light ants on fire with a magnifying glass.
I don't believe in all this time travel trash. On a side note, there are accounts of alien abductions (that unfold under hypnosis) in which they describe detail after detail that stuns professionals who have changed their beliefs on the whole UFO/alien phenomenon. So those alien beings are my closest guess as to who is piloting these aircraft. Oh yeah, there is also the Bob Lazar story too in which he tells how these craft are controlled by brain waves, which require a brain. But this is for another thread. And don't get me started on global warming.
Nothing can surpass the speed of light unless the craft were a figment of imagination. Physical objects have their physical limitations. Unless of course, if a craft were theoretically able to travel faster than light, would they pass the limitations of this dimension and possibly phase into another dimension?
Well I mean... we see the past. The light we get from stars, sun, whatever, its old. We get light from stars that are actually dead. Right?
great idea but you already mentioned the flaw. we need a spacecraft that travels faster than the speed of light. that according to the laws of physics is impossible.
Wow this thread takes me back to the late 70's when I was but a wee lad and just kind of hanging out with my Dad, and looking up at the stars and saying the exact same thing. And yes, it's true. If we had the ability to outrun light, and also had the technology to get up-close details from hundreds or thousands of light-years-away reflected light from this tiny little planet, then yes, we could in face observe past events. And if my aunt had a moustache, she'd be my uncle, as my old science teacher used to say. (on a side note, why the heck does CF.net insist that the word 'moustache' is a misspelled word??? It's the aliens, I tell ya!)
I think Star Trek's Enterprise is able to travel faster than light. I forgot what it's called when they do that. Or there's always the black hole. I think going through a black hole takes you to another dimension, which could be a parallel universe that's like 6000 or millions of years before us. I dunno, I just pulled that outta my ass. and I've always thought that if a physical object were to be pushed faster than the speed of light, it would explode or something.
