If a person knowingly lies about a crime, they should face the punishment of those charges.

You can tell he isn't sincere in his interviews if you understand the signs of a liar. This kid doesn't have what it takes. I bet they really were writing him off that show.

They don't seem to have perpetrated a crime, and they don't seem to have lied to the police. It's a bit off, but unless there's some crime related to being an accessory to a hoax (and then they'd need to prove they knew how far he would go), i'd expect their cooperation would lead to no charges.

A liberal mock account, how weird lmao. I wonder how many sales that person gets on the book lulz.

The name Titiana definitely makes it obvious though.

You’re right: Trump supporters are people — as in the plural of person.

    We’re getting somewhere.

I'm still confused on the attack on believing victims by some posters.

Believing means investigating their claims (which in this case led the police to a false statement charge).

Not believing means no effort is made by the police and everything is swept under a rug.

    Fascinating.

The police chief laments the amount of press coverage this attack got vis-a-vis the victims of gun violence in Chicago after it turned out to be a hoax. I don't think I heard anything like that before it turned out to be a hoax.

I believe the police superintendent meant that people should pay more attention to gun crime in Chicago than an actor lying about a hate crime in order to get more attention/money/fame.

The victims of gun violence, many of whom are being killed/permanently crippled, deserve more attention than the amount of attention that Smollett was getting before it was a confirmed hoax.

Unreal. This idiot’s career is over. I just can’t fathom how he thought this was a good idea, and that nobody would figure it out.

...might not have been a bad idea, in the superintendent's case, to wait until their investigation warranted an official statement.

...I mean, if we're all supposed to wait on the evidence to come out before making judgments or forming opinions and everything...;)

The right will turn this into the biggest thing and always refer to this whenever someone claims a hate crime and usd it to discredit all racism. All other cases of real racism will get brushed under the rug.

The right loves to use one example to convince themselves of stereotypes.

A snowball means climate change is fake
One BLM chant mean they are the same as the KKK
One woman makes false claims mean all women are liars
One black man hoaxes hate crime means all hate crimes are hoaxes.
