Depends on how you define failure. If outselling HD-DVD 2-1 when Blu Ray was being outsold 4-1, I would say their Trojan Horse method is some what successful. Sony still sells a good amount of ps2's every month so it's not a complete loss if their more expensive, next gen system isn't selling as hot as the Wii. All Sony needs to do is lower the price and the system will be accepted by more people. AVS did a poll on both the Sony and MS gaming forum and 33% said they would purchase a ps3 if they dropped the price by $100. Which is sort of confusing to me, because the ps3 had the 20 gig @ $499 which no one really wanted..... Hey Tinman, do you really know anything about HDTV's? I know you like it very much (probally not as much as xbox) but it seems that you have very little to no knowledge when people ask you questions regarding HDTV's.
E3 will be a little exciting, but TGS is going to be the new E3 while the new E3 is well, the new E3. Will E3 live to 2008??? Btw - Any impressions on the Warhawk beta? I might purchase this if it's worth it. Sony announced the Jabra BT125? headset with Warhawk retail package for $59.
chow. i was at CES las vegas when the first DLP chip was announced. lets say I'm LL Cool J dropping Ring the Bellz. give me an example of little to no knowledge cause i'm really tequila in hard boiled.
I wouldn't say most of the guys here have a PS3. From what I can recall from various threads where people have mentioned what system(s) they own, I'd say the ratio of PS3s to 360s/Wiis is probably similar to the actual number of systems being sold in total. A lot of the PS3 owners might discuss their gaming interests on this board more so than others though, which could be misleading since you'll end up seeing a lot more posts by PS3 owners. That might be throwing you off. I don't think Sony wanted people to want them. I'll have to look back at some reports, but I think a lot of stores didn't even get any shipments of 20GB PS3s after the initial launch shipments, even though they wanted them as an alternative to the $600 PS3 at the very least. There seemed to be considerably more demand for it than the 360 Core, but I guess Sony didn't really plan on the 20GB providing anything more than a line or two of PR talk the months leading up to launch. TGS will be pretty big, but E3 will probably still grab a lot of attention, especially since there will probably still be a lot of announcements from a number of companies. Maybe TGS will be big for Japanese companies, and E3 will be big for NA and European companies. Although I guess European companies might want to wait for the Leipzig Game Conference, which has grown into a large and important event as well. Actually, I remember talk about TGS going away too, like E3 in a way. A year or two ago, I remember they were talking about making it apart of some anime conference or something IIRC. I haven't heard anything about it since though. I've been curious about Warhawk too. I've seen extremely positive impressions about the Beta, and the retail package for the game sounds like a great deal (I want a Bluetooth headset). I was disappointed when I heard it was going multiplayer-only, but I think I'm as interested in the game now as I was when it still had single-player. I guess the pricing doesn't hurt.
Another game I played which had just amazing voice acting was Eternal Darkness for the GameCube. The quality of voice acting in that game is the best that I have seen. Specially the cut-scene where one of the characters is in the assylum prison and going crazy. But the dialgue in KOTOR was just superb and so engaging. BTW I wish Silicon Knights makes a sequel for Eternal Darkness for the 360 since they are already making Too Human for the it.
eternal darkness:sanity's requiem is/was an all time great game. Action, adventure, great story, drama, horror, magic, guns, swords etc...it had it all sucks that they wont be making more of those. a truly underappreciated game in the main stream
