This team would be better today with Simmons. I don't think there's any arguing that. The criticisms that people like me made were: - Would we be better with Simmons than Caris Levert and Jarrett Allen? I think it's tough to make the case that Simmons individually outperforms them both or that Thybulle averaging 3 points a game right now is a more attractive piece with Simmons than Levert + Allen whose collective scoring output was over 30 ppg and provided two legitimate scorers who are also both young. - Does Simmons have much upside? I don't think so. His ceiling has been hit, and he'll have slightly better and slightly worse seasons, but I just don't see him becoming a much better player than he is. - I think the logic of the FO, and maybe they are right, is that with Simmons/Thybulle or Levert + Allen, we are stuck in purgatory (lower ranked playoff seed with a FR loss, or missing the playoffs slightly, maybe in the play-in game or something) with pieces we have to commit long-term money to without ever getting the right pieces needed to really compete for a championship. Hence the rebuild direction. - If the FO is able to get real value back from Oladipo and actually use the late FRP acquired as part of the Allen trade to do something meaningful, then we'll have to give them credit. Until then, at a minimum I think we can fairly criticize them for trading Allen away for a bottom-5 FRP.
So they are still salty about losing Allen in the deal for Harden, while watching him put up MVP performances on what is probably going to be the most stacked team of all time .. unreal
If they add Drummond maybe but the warriors were more deeper. The Nets have better three but the warriors just were deep with defenders like prime Draymond and Iggy. Livingston was a terrific defender to. Even cheap shot Pachulia and Bogut before that. McGee was good for them to. David West was no bum either.
Ehhh.... Well past their prime though.... Most would agree with saying Billups and Sheed were better than Payton and Malone at that point..... In fact it's not really an argument.
Not bad journalism at all... Generally to get multiple stars you need a star... We could've acquired Simmons... We chose not to.
They were all-stars though.... It takes multiple superstars 2+... Or multiple all-stars in this era 3+.... Generally 99% of the time... Dream and Dirk would be the only exceptions to this... In Dreams case he's the only player in NBA history to win a ship without another all-star or HOF player..... Dirk won without another all-star, but Kidd is a HOFamer and Marion will potentially be one too.... They weren't in their primes by any means, but they were pivotal in that series.
Agree. Most offensively stacked team ever. We know they are getting Drummond too, plus another wing, wouldnt be surprised if Tucker shows up there plus Nwaba. But they are still crying over losing Allen.
Pretty CLEARLY he did it with intent.... Harden loves to hoop... Dude will probably be hooping on the regular in his retirement years lol showing up at the Drew League dropping 50 at 50.
Or.... Maybe.... He left because we didn't have the comparative talent to win a ship and didn't want to have to consistently carry the largest load in the NBA to beat superstar teamups. Now he's being praised as a LEADER and MVP of the Nets :
So when Tillman publicly stated he essentially forced Morey to trade Cp3 for Russ.... That was a lie?
Wed still have zero stars. Ben a Simmons isn’t a star. At best he’s the second best player in a team from the East that has yet to make it past the second round.
