Robber barons? Jeez, more anti-capitalist propaganda, but I guess that is par for the course for you. The poor should rely on private charity, not from money taken from the pockets of the contributing members of society. Forced charity is not charity at all. And funding those "programs" is no guarantee for success. We spend more money than ever on schools and yet, kids are not entering the world educated in the slightest? Let me guess, your solution to any problem is: take from the producers, come up with some government program to solve the problem and when it doesn't work, just say that it did so because it was underfunded. Give me a break.

But yet people like me who want to have the economic liberty to keep more of the labors of my hard work are castigated as being heartless and cruel because we simply want some of what is ours anyway back? Keep spewing your excuses for failure. It takes guts and courage to be successful, but it takes no talent to be a failure. My father was raised poor, but yet he amounted to something. A little hard work never hurt anyone and it certainly did not hurt me. I feel sorry for your circumstances, but there is always hope. I believe resolutely that if you work hard enough and long enough, you will be a success.

Tax me a hundred percent if you will I'm tired of success being viewed in terms of money in this country. Have some self worth and dignity will you.

NO....hehe, all the people that measure "success" in terms of bank account instead of self worth or dignity. I've met numerous poor people I would consider success. Hell my family is a success.

I actually believe you and I think that's great. There's so much of a get mine mentality in this country nowadays that it really irks me. I think all of us in whatever capacity we're capable of should take responsbility for the society we help create. You have a great weekend too! ;)

Are you really trying to say that there aren't factors that play an incredible role in the success or failure of people? Humans don't respond to outside factors? This is novel!

Yes, those kids born to unprepared mothers really need to learn to be held accountable. Just for the sake of your conscience no less.

Dude, I don't know what point you're trying to make but you show no sympathy for the true victims of unprepared mothers, and that's Conservative hypocricy in action. Congratulations for making Timing's point even more effective.

At least Max argues for the hope these babies might actually become productive members of society,

You argue like they should be here everyday to remind their mothers of their sins.

The term robber baron is anti-capitalist propaganda? LOL! Oh my goodness...

You completely ignored my point that there are variables that heavily influence success and failure. Ya know I said you wanted to live in the 1800's and then just wrote two paragraphs agreeing with me.

I'm not trying to do that. The point I'm making is that if more young people were aware of the consequences of irresponsible sex, we wouldn't need to have such a discusson.

I was not trying to say that children should be around as a reminder of sin, but I was bemoaning the fact that the stupidity of their parents are visited upon them. They are innocent, yet when they grow up, they, like all human beings, have ultimate responsibility for the choices they make. The only bastards in my mind are the stupids who have irresponsible sex, but yet when they can't face the consequences and support the new life they made, they want me to support them through my tax dollars?

And as for unprepared mothers, they shouldn't have been whoring around anyhow! If they can't support their child, put it up for adoption. There are many childless couples who would love to take that child born of bad choices and give them a loving home. My cousin has two children in that manner, both from young, unwed mothers.

    Everyone needs to calm down,

Anyway for my two cents, the main reason I am pro choice, is because banning abortion will not prevent abortion. The rich will just send their kids to countries to have them, and the poor will be having them in dark rooms with close hangers.

I can understand arguing vehemently for pro life, but I just think its a lost cause, because outlawing abortion will only bring another problem.

The same groups that have fought for this abortion ban support teaching abstinence as the main method of birth control/ sex education. Instead of allowing young men and women to learn how to properly use condoms, birth control pills, etc., they are forced to basically either learn from peers or hold out until married. How do we get around the communities that won’t allow proper sex education in the class, because of religious convictions?

I'm not saying that, I'm saying the way you measure success, and the way you make it seem like if we X conditions, then Y will always happen, I think there is a problem in that...

So now they've decided that a human life should be judged before it even has a chance to grow up? No one on this earth should have the right to decide whether a human life will be worthless or not... NO ONE.
