He should know the dangers of being undercut, being a highflyer himself. "I'm going to run under this guy who has just elevated and nudge him with my shoulder" doesn't happen accidentally, especially when you know the danger of it yourself. It's not even about stopping in your tracks so much as it is simply NOT running into a player while he's in the air. Just a few inches to the right and he would have been fine. The lack of remorse to boot doesn't bode well for your defense of J.R. in this case.

It is the dirtiest/most dangerous play in basketball. Taking a guy's legs out from under him while he's in the air is despicable and warrants an ejection+suspension and then some. I don't care if it's an accident. The fact that it's so easy to do (simply run into the guy, like in this case) allows scumbags to play it off as unintentional. They know damn well what they're doing and you should too.

J.R. Smith and Carmelo are two of the reasons I hated the Nuggets so much all those years they were there, along with Birdman and a couple other guys. I can't stand thug millionaires who ought to be in prison rather than living the high life.

Why does Carmelo Anthony belong in prison?

He probably doesn't, and I probably wouldn't put him there, yet he has a lesser version of the same attitude as JR Smith, so I mentally classify him as a thug player.

You know on the other hand maybe he DOES belong in prison.

I don't care about him smoking some weed but what bothers me is the way he uses his money and connections to game the system and avoid jail time while others pay their dues.

Nice, so JR, Melo and Jason "DWI" Kidd can share the same cell.
