He doesn't buy into the system because honestly the systems have been terrible. Hes been on the Hawks and the Pistons for gods sake, the former being a good team talent wise but could never get it together (which is not his fault). Give the man a chance.. The worst thing that can happen is he leaves during free agency.

Neither man is standing straight up, can't tell if they are directly next to each other (even a slight difference in where they are in relation to the camera can impact your visual), etc.

Like I said, I'm not saying Josh Smith is 6'7. I have no idea how tall he is. That picture doesn't prove a durn thing though.

don't need to. its common sense. pretty difficult for you to understand i see. no worries though, not everyone can process information as fast as others.

Still waiting - pictures do not tell anything - perspective, closeness to camera, body lean - nothing, just find some measurements somewhere and post them here.

My guess is you tried, and could not - right?

Maybe you should also research how you can make one man look like a hobbit by using camera position - and it will open up your eyes as to why pictures are not proof....but most people can't process that information, right?

Josh Smith on a $2mi a year contract is a no brainer. You can take his talent and production at that cap hit no matter the flaws.

    Broussard...

But if so many teams are reaching out to him shows that this is probably a smart move for the cost.

Over his career it hurts it but not a ton. Smith only averages 1.6 3s a game for his career and is only taking 1.3 a game this year. Like I said before, the long and mid range jumpers are what really kills his efficiency. You cut those out and he will be fine.

I wonder what our real chances are of landing him.

I'm sorry, DD. You seem to want to argue about all of the minutia....who cares how tall he is? He's been a good player for a decade....Why do you care what he's called(stretch 4)? He'll play the PF position if he's signed....It seems that you don't like him, and never will--you have the right to this opinion. Smith has been a polarizing player-you like him, or you don't. I think that he's an obvious upgrade for the Rockets. I think that he'll surprise everyone with his athleticism and work ethic. I'm hoping that he'll take to the coaching and team attitude. There's a reason why teams are in line to sign him....at 13 million dollars, Smith is probably overpaid, but most NBA players are. Detroit is starting over with Drummond as their guy....they drafted and signed too many similar players. That's not Smith or Monroe's fault. We should be so lucky to sign exactly what we need for the BAE. I respect your opinion, and agree w some of your concerns, but feel that this could be huge for the team.

Remember that guy we picked up in free agency a few years back? The guy was a supposed coach-killer, injury exaggerator and a diva. He played briefly with a couple of future HOFer who routinely questioned his heart and dedication.

Even with all that baggage, Morey signed him to a max deal and the guy has been an amazing player, leader and member of our community.

I'm still glad we brought in Dwight Howard. Let's take a much, much less risky chance on another great player who has had a bumpy road of late.

It doesn't seem like anyone not named cyberx would know what Josh Smith would really want. He has been in a pretty bad situation for most of his career, and we are on the brink of something great with an awesome locker room, great attitude guys, and people he can literally respect (McHale as a HOF, 2 superstars, a great supporting cast, and a front office that has a great track record).

That being said, the one thing that holds true is the fact that winning solves a lot of problems. You put a motivated josh smith in a winning environment, I bet his attitude changes and he falls in line. I may not know his attitude, but history has proven that fact.

You can't say he can't be trusted to play a designated role... he was on a **** team where everyone was playing for themselves. Who knows how he will play on a legit championship contender playing his true position. That's why Morey gets paid the big bucks and you sit on your computer all day.

And we all know the DD effect.

Your hatred is almost a guarantee that he will be a great player for us!

    Thanks, man!

That's a lot of tampering. I thought teams couldn't talk to his camp until he is officially a FA

Cancer is a questionable term for a guy not too far removed from posting Defensive Win Shares in the 4.5 range for his final 4 seasons in Atlanta. Extremely high ORB%, and an actually decent OWS rate when he isn't jacking up 3s.

No question he has been an unmitigated disaster in Detroit, but his body of work in Atlanta proves he has potential to be a huge asset on the defensive end.

Morey needs to sit him down with a couple of nerds and make him understand he was a monster in 2009-10 when he wasn't shooting any 3s. PER of 21. Total win shares 9.3. We're not going to get that Josh Smith, but we need him to play with the mentality he had that season. If he can do half of that, he's a dynamite addition.

Josh Smith's tenure in Detroit was the same as Ariza's first time here. A very good role player who was put into a situation where they had to do more than they were capable of. Josh Smith here who wouldn't be option #1 or #2 and wouldn't be asked to do things out of his abilities and comfort zone. To add on top of that, we're paying him only $2+ a year. What other player can we get for $2mill a year who can do what we want him to do at that position?
