You gotta committ to working with a young up-and-comer like Tarik and give him consistent minutes to help him improve. In other words, we've been going with Black all season, now is not the time to go back on that choice.
Their were rumors Celtics wanted to trade Wright as soon as they got him (they have a surplus of bigs) and Rockets were considered one of the rumored suitors. If it didn't take much to get him then I'd do it in a heart-beat.
Then Dorsey then. It doesn't matter. If youre at the point of winning a title, working with up and comers comes second. Id rather have proven vets when it comes to the playoffs then rely on a raw rookie to go deep in the playoffs
Ugh - the guy is a cancer, and is just not as good as he thinks he is...and we have some great young players in Dmo and Tjo that he would get in the way of, and are both potentially better than him. That being said, he is an UPGRADE from Black and Dorsey.....and if Tjo is not coming back, a big upgrade for the PF/SF spot. So, yeah, sign him...but man, I really hate his game - and think he is terrible as a lead dog....I would not pay him more than a year or two max...as he has the ability to screw up the chemistry in the locker room, a TON ! Detroit dropped him owing 23 million....think about that....they CUT him with pay because he is such a malcontent. If our leadership is strong enough great - but these are the kinds of moves that can either put you over the top, or ruin chemistry. DD

The rockets send players like tarik to the d-leauge for precisely this reason. Its definitely not a either-or scenario with Smith and black as you make it out to be. See patterson, Jones, morris etc
i wouldn't be surprised if he actually misbehaved the past few weeks on purpose, trying to get out and taking his full salary with him…..from what i've seen the past 10 yrs, i wouldn't put that past him
Totally agree. We all know he's a chucker with an attitude but perhaps McHale can get him to buy in and be a part of something great here.
I haven't kept up with this thread enough to read your previous posts. Are you in favor of getting Smith and how do you think he would fit.
That is where the similarities end, Deke was pure class, Josh Smith is the first two letters short of class. DD
Just an absolute steal and needs to be picked up immediately this shouldn't even be a debate. We will have possibly the best defense in the league, and the Rockets have an ATROCIOUS bench defensive rating. That will improve with Brewer out there but put Smith in for 15-20 mpg going all out and not chucking and you have an instant improvement over what we have now. Smith was thrown onto bad squads expected to be a primary scorer and he simply isn't one. He's a dirty work kind of guy and is more than capable of finishing around the hoop and getting boards and steals.
A change of scenery and the right coach might do him some good. Everybody can change in the right atmosphere DD.
We can talk about him being a cancer etc etc.......rockets cannot afford to lose talent to our immediate rivals, Cuban will pick this guy up if morey doesn't. Team is good but a talent like Smith is enough to make a run. Let's not waste Howard and harden before they become FA .
Re: Josh Smith (name that movie line) - "This is by far the best bad idea we have" I share a lot of people discontentment with smith....but for $2 million it's the best option that I don't feel great about we have.
