F everything else. With how bad Mavs fans want him, we should get him just to F with them now.

He better stick to shooting shots in the paint.

You can only beat a college team when you are scoring 55-62 points every game.

Josh Smith at PF defensively is a given.

Josh Smith at PF offensively. Ask yourself this...if Smith is in the game, he is likely taking minutes from Dorsey/Black. Who would you rather shoot the ball of that troika? Like you said, sure Smith will shot some crappy shots, but Dorsey and Black have had plenty of missed layups and can't provide close the defense that Smith could provide.

That's the beautiful part it would only be what 2.6 millionish he would be playing for? He's totally worth that

Smith can do a LOT of good things on the court.
as long as he is happy to defer to Harden and Howard, and as long as they can keep his chucking in check, he would be enormous. No more getting burned by LMA!

If he doesn't work, just waive him!

Morey was willing to S&T for Smith when he was in ATL at 8M per. Morey certainly is willing to sign Smith at 2.6M. #value.

i didnt mean that harden cant play defense. i was saying that the OP meant that he liked this defensive lineup better. its arguable whether harden or brewer is better at defense

The smartest reason for acquisition I've read yet.

    So to summarize:

-Smith only wants to play for a contender
-He has wanted to come to Houston for years
    -His best friend plays here
-The Rockets can offer the most money
-He will be a starter here at PF
    -Rockets are aggressively pursuing him

    This is a done deal.

THIS! The defensive presence that Josh Smith will bring to the table far outweighs his negatives as an offensive player. He will buy in to the system with Dwight, Harden and McHale. Play 25 min of excellent defense and opportunistic offense. Get er done Maury.

White was a calculated risk that didn't work out... we had 2 other 1st round picks that year that have worked out great for us. If he had only 1 draft pick he would have not drafted White and he probably would have just selected Jones at 16 anyway.

and yes who could forget when Morey traded Sergei Lishchuk and Jermaine Taylor for Twill... what a dumb move!

Give me a break... acquiring T-will was a low risk high reward situation

If Josh Smith plays like he did in Atlanta, then I'd be totally fine with having him here in Houston.

Unfortunately for you, Dragic will be a Rocket. If not by the trade deadline then he'll walk over in FA. BEV is a good player, but he's no Dragic.

Is this a case of Smith choosing or the highest bidder gets him?

Gotcha. I do agree Smith would upgrade our D tremendously his shot selection and percentages are sooooo bad though. I mean he's like the worst shooter in the NBA.

Sounds like it to me as well. We will find out Wednesday.

Schroeder was tearing that lineup up and smith wouldn't have made a difference.
