Wow this could be instresting. Look at the plus for josh smith by joining rockets. Gets to be with his good friend dwight, he's on a contender a really good one at that, he's getting what he's owed from pistons? And houston can offer him more then the rest of teams after him and he gets to learn from Hakeem, Mchale, Dwight and harden?.
You turn center into a spot by committee between DMo and Black (like the Rockets did when Dwight was out). You cut Dorsey. Not saying I'm advocating one way or another on this one here.
Granted, he has been a talented but low IQ shooter in the past. However, he is probably eating some humble pie after his experience in Detroit, and I would hope he would be willing to buy in if he joins here. Josh Smith with his head straight would be a great add.
Moving Johnson to the D-League doesn't mean he's off the roster. He still counts toward to the 15-man max.
If Josh Smith will be here, that means Morey and McHale will give up on Kpap completely. There is no minutes left for this guy.
I see this a lot. I completely agree here with that statement, but, the Rockets system isn't exactly... don't make me say it, don't make me say it... crap... Rocket Science. Shoot threes till the cows come home, or drive. Hell, I'm shocked we don't see Dwight on the perimeter more often just for poops and giggles. Heck, he might even get fouled on a 3 point attempt and make 1/3 free throws instead of 0/2.
We can't have best of both worlds though. He won't sign here unless we promise him minutes and a starting role which means trainwreck. At least Dorsey is on the bench but this guy will be on the court and will chuck no matter where is he
I understand your reasoning but Josh Smith is a medium risk. If he does not pan out, and he has that against him, it would be crazy to do that in retrospect.
Smith over black or dorsy. But smiths stats over some bench warmers TOT 11 yrs 15.4 7.8 3.3 Points, rebounds and assist. Sure smith can do some dumb bone headed stuff but he's still has way more value then these guys and automatically improves the roster whether he starts or comes off the bench. He can literslly play 3 diffrent roles if needed
Guess who was the best man at Josh's wedding a few years back? This guy: http://straightfromthea.com/2010/08/03/inside-josh-smiths-atlanta-hawks-wedding-photos/
Also one more thing, our team will literally become the worst free throw shooting team in the NBA, he's a worse FT shooter than Dwight
How exactly is he a great fit? We jack up a lot of threes. He Jacks up a lot of threes but shoots at am incredibly low pct
Yeah I understand your point. I guess maybe since I like to gamble but for the price we would pay him I would gamble on him. There's also no information that he'll only sign with us unless he starts or has significant minutes.
As of now, Canaan is at the bottom of the list and should be the first one to go in terms of talent and fit (not considering position). I won't be shock if they will give up Capela to go all in this year either. But I will be shock if they just give up Kpap for J. Smith.
