No low risk low reward. the Pistons are my second fav team and I watch them regularly to say that signing Smith will not make us better than we are right now. he will literally brick our way out of the playoffs, MOREY STAHP, this isnt worth it. even if we tell him to only shoot when he's open that won't help us because he will always always be open

don't want, only good at blocking shots when he is in atlanta, terrible shooter, terrible IQ, terrible vision, likes bricking 3s, likes ISO, no defensive decipline
Wow... if Morey/McHale had enough vision for Smith to try to trade for him at that salary.... I'm genuinely excited to see if we can get him now for the BAE.
Dwight Howard+Josh Smith = friends Dwight Howard + Courtney Lee = friends Dwight Howard + Courtney Lee + Josh Smith = win
You don't know how he'll play here. He might actually give a crap here and try in this new setting. The money and upside to getting him is far better than whoever we're cutting.

By the way, while we all keep citing the AAU team that featured Josh Smith and Dwight Howard, friendship continued. Who will you cut or release to sign Josh Smith? - not any of out starters, not TJ or DMo (TJ has zero trade value when injuried). - not the 2 new guys, they have to wait 2 months. - not Black or Dorsey as Smith is not a backup big. - Doesn't seem like he will be McHale's favorite over Terry - Not Nick or Canaan as Terry also showing sign of being an old dog as of late. So either you trade away Kpap for nothing - highly doubt it. Or you will have to cut or release or find a team to take Capela for NOTHING. For Josh Smith? Lol
I'm fine with him as a super sub 6th man, but I'm not sure about him starting. really like what DMO has been doing
don't know how to embed but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTVYIShkZwc. Kudos to the Pistons, their future just got a whole lot brighter
If he's willing to sign for the Bi-Annual Exception, you pull the trigger without a second thought. His shot distribution is a lot closer to where it was in Atlanta; with better teammates and a little more room to operate (and no more time at the 3), I'm willing to bet his shooting % will rebound. And if not, he basically gives you everything that Papanikolau does (whose poor shooting hasn't hurt us). Warmly Welcome, JSmoove!
Morey was trying to get him for a near max deal a little over a year ago, now can sign him for less than 2 million. This is why he always goes for FLEXIBILITY
I'm curious to see who would get cut, probably move Johnson down to the vipers makes the most sense. But wow once we get Jones back we would be the deepest team in the league
I'm calling it right now. If he ends up signing here, he WILL BE A GREAT FIT. It gets so old reading 99% of responses on clutchfans saying they don't want players becasue they can't shoot. You guys are soooo brainwashed by Moreys gameplan, it's ridiculous. Just a heads up, teams do and have won in the past with players that aren't elite 3 point shooters. This guy can defend, run the break, pass the ball and finish at the rim. I'm not even a huge fan of Josh Smith's but I'm not too blind to see that he would be an upgrade over both D mo and Jones at this point.
Got rid of the last two bottom-feeders in Garcia and Daniels. I'd guess [one of] Black and Dorsey are next.
