The experiment is answered. Smith is a plus. And that success is purely on Josh and Coach.

Dude almost had a triple double off the bench. JOSH!!!

Say what you want about Coach, but he is a master at plays out of timeouts and is a master with player management.

I just want to see if we can get upon agreement with a few things, before I come back to Houston for the Playoffs.

    maybe maybe no

I fear the argument may not be resolved until the playoffs.

Regardless of how Clutchfans feel, the players LOVE McHale.
Besides. What if we had a Blatt or Budenholzer? Are we going to pretend like Harden and Dwight are going to listen to him anyway?

Just continue to b**** and moan man. You and several posters just never wanna give credit to a coach that has done everything and more THIS year that we could ask of him. A 35-15 record with the loss of Parsons,Asik,Lin and the substantial injuries to Howard and Jones. McHale is beloved in the locker room, and helps in making us an attractive destination to free agents (like that Dwight Howard guy a couple years ago and Kyle Lowry last summer and Goran Dragic).

Go ahead, tell me what more you've wanted Mchale to do this year? My God, this team could be 50-0 and y'all would still be complaining.

He had great timing for timeouts yesterday. The playoffs will determine everything, but this team has had so many injuries and is currently 20 games over 500...

Josh is a big plus. He did not ruin our chemistry like some suggested. On the other hand, Dwight has been disappointing so far even when he is not injured.

Rockets are 13-5 since Josh went to the bench
Detroit is 11-8 in that timespan

And before you say, "Detroit was really bad before"

    consider this

    13-5 = 60 wins

The first thing, and quite frankly the main thing, is if the players want to play for the coach. And we sure know they do. Some coaches can't ever get the instant credibility that McHale gets.

In order for a player to play for a coach, the coach must bring:

    1. Credibility - HOF player. When a top 50 player of all time is your coach, he commands respect. He doesn't deal with the BS like beta coaches. He has a massive limp playing the same sport better than most people in history. NBA players know that; they see his toughness.
    2. Ability to teach - Mentoring.
    3. Relate to the players - Been there done that.
    4. Xs and Os that the players understand work. They are in the NBA for a reason, and many know what will/won't work. Based on their bench responses after inbounds plays, they give a lot of credit to the staff for good designed plays.
    5. Ability to earn PT - McHale has shown time and time again that players can earn PT. Yes, your favorite player might not play every game, but it is clear that McHale changes his rotation more than other teams. Look at Troy Daniels in the Playoffs last year for example.

Players love playing for McHale. It was written that McHale took over the D this year, and his inbound plays have been stellar. In addition, he has mixed up his lineup with match ups that work. Players see this, and buy in. We like player coaches.
