We have taken a major step backwards. No faith in tJones and back surgery ain't no joke....dmo might never be the same...and we still don't have a guy besides harden who can create his own shot....

I really don't understand morey's logic to this. I am sure he was pissed knowing the money we could have offered and didn't give it to him. This is absolutely absurd. What makes it very difficult to swallow was that he was the perfect point forward, which is something you need in the NBA. Balmer probably proved that he is willingnto go over the tax to build a contending team which Les has once again proven to be a typical Cheap SOB of an owner. Les owes this city. If he doesn't want a championship team then sell it to someone who gives a F***.

Morey made clear the team's priorities were Sergio Llull and KJ McDaniels. They would be offered the Rocket's MLE. Not Josh.

So he left. Didn't matter what the Clippers could pay him. He left on principle. Morey made it clear the Rockets didn't value him as much as Llull, McDaniels and Brewer.

Seeing that he wasn't a priority, he left out of principle.

Plain n Simple a aggressive T Jones is better than Josh. Josh is a goid player but he choose PT of playing for the rox he took 1 mil less its okay its one less big guy who can't hit a ft we'll miss his playmaking and off ball defense but he was not a key on this team Motets probably going to give kj the mle and if he isn't playing he will be pkg together with pops that will give Roxanne 10 mil to trade for a real pg

One sentence. Jones is far away from playoff ready... I think he will get there.... but his BBall is not the highest so it will take him some time....

Does Howard have years to wait on him? I doubt it.

Money is not the major issue in Josh's case here. Even if the Rockets had offered the MLE to Smith, he would have to think if he were to sign with the Rockets.

Rockets have not much playing time left for Josh Smith. Assuming team health, Rockets have DMo/TJ/Harrell, Howard/Capela at the 4/5. Smith will have to compete with Jones for the mere power forward backup time.

To me that's the sole problem. LAC will have whatever Griffin and Jordan left for him. Huge difference. Therefore, he chose LAC with $1M vet min, over Rockets with $2.5 non-Bird.

Only question to me was who, Morey or Smith, had waited so long before Smith made the decision. I'd be very disappointed if Morey had the ball in hand. I don't think Josh Smith was inclined to sign LAC when Dallas had D Jordan's nod.

Guess it's time to move on. I'll miss Josh Smith occasionally, like when Carl Landry moved on.

I don't think it will take him years to get better. I think he will be better this season. I also don't think he fully had his legs back after that injury.

I doubt it. If he plays well with the Clippers, he'll get a nice offer from someone next summer, while the Rockets will be pursuing a 3rd star yet again with all their capspace. And if he plays poorly, would the Rockets want him back at that point?

He can play above average and still not able to win a championship. Sounds fair to me.

Rivers won't let him play the way he likes and the way he had a green light there. Awful decition by JSmooth, big loss for Rockets - defensively, and offensively.
