The Rox have always been caught in between. Either develop talents and be bad or fill out your championship contenders with veterans and do not mess with it. They are doing both at the same time... I do not recall it as a winning formula so Morey must be a trailblazer if that works.... but last year proved GSW are doing it better and last year was a golden opportunity that does not happen every year GSW had the best mix of young guys, veterans and stars. We will see.
You're right.. He didn't just hang with Griffin he ****ing owned Griffin games 5-7 when McHale finally decided to put him in the starting lineup.
That said I also won't lose much sleep on that but it worries me.... This offseason kicked off really bad.... No Euro stash player wanted to sign with us, no real additions that will help us.... Hope he can it around
Agreed. The only time the Rockets "owned" Griffin was when he ran out of gas in the 4th quarters of the games, especially late in that series. Well, the Rockets just helped him and the Clippers out bigtime by letting a quality backup 4 defect to their team.
I am really disappointed about Smith but Morey always makes this team better somehow and seems to understand players real values (except for Point Guards) and finds a solution for us better than what we had hoped he would have done. I hope this works out the same because I really liked Smith and felt like him signing was crucial to keeping Howard. We will see after this year.
Judging by the offer and the uncertain role, did they really want Smith back? I'm not sure now. As I said earlier... Fine with the offer. But role? You didn't know where he fit in with Motiejunas, Jones, Capela & Harrell? He's the 3rd big, first off the bench. On that note, I can't blame him for leaving. Left battling Motiejunas, Capela, Jones, & Harrell vs. .... [LAC] he's now their best big off the bench with no competition.
This worries me because we still haven't seen Brewer sign on the dotted line. I hope he doesn't jump ship and run off to Dallas or some other team that decides to offer him some ridiculous sum that we won't compete with.
Not really. It is just a gut feeling. I am a Jones fan but I think he is after big bucks ..... He will be traded or dealt with within a year because I do not think Morey will pay him that kind of money. Near max I am talking about.
Exactly. If it was about his role and PT, so he can cash out next summer, then he will get more time in LA.
Smith was good in stretches but horrible in others. For as good as he was games 5-7 vs. Clips, he was equally horrible in the losses to GSW. He was an easy cover for the most part and if the 3 wasn't falling, he wouldn't make adjustments. I'm good with him leaving. There might be times that we miss him, but not enough to get all stressed out about.
Smith saw also potential with DeAndre returning to them, being a Dwight very lite and with a team that almost destroyed the Rockets with an injured Chris Paul Adding him into the mix makes sense for them and him.
think TJ is still young and has more upside than faried! Now defensively TJ needs to get better with a faried motor
I think LA can mix it up if Smith does not work out - ban him to the bench and start Lance Stephenson at 3
TJ is as good as gone in a year unless he can average more than 13 and 8 consistently He is going to get other offers and Morey will lowball and get other talents that can replace him
