Smith left of his own volition, and in fact he took less money to play with LA. I don't think the brass wanted to let him go, but there was no way to pay him big money with all the other turnover.
Could we even trade for him or don't we have to wait like a year? Or is that just if he was traded or waived from us?
Can? Yes. Will? I doubt it. He left because supposedly of minutes (or/and Harden sniffin' on his wife? ). Now Clippers want him out because of his attitude issues which he brings to every single team (expect Houston? ). I'm not sure Morey would bend over for someone like Smith. On top of that, if he would, he would need to trade TJ in same or different deal to make minutes for Smith.
I've thought he left because we simply couldn't guarantee him a big role in our rotation. We never had DMo, Jones and Smith available at the same time. Add Capela's playoff emergence and I can see why he'd flock to another contender that made him feel like the missing piece.
With our backs against wall in 2015, Josh Smith rose to the occasion and saved us. Our backs are now against the wall again. Who will be our Josh Smith this year???
