No one is perfect. I don't Smith is worth the max but I would have no problems paying him what he gets paid now. 48 million over 4 years is what he should get paid. The guy would cause all kinds of mismatches playing next to Chandler Parsons and a legit center. Artest on steriods.
It's not like Smith always plays like that. He'll have some good games and look like an all star and others where he's just awful. If he played smarter he'd be an all star every year. Should be interesting to see what the Hawks do with him...they want to S&T him so we'll see.
DO NOT settle for Josh Smith. Yes, the Rockets may make a slight improvement but he is a stopgap and will not make Houston a contender. One of Smith's strengths is his athleticism. But, he's already 28 and once that athleticism is gone, he has no reliable game outside of 5 feet. The Rockets would make a huge mistake to sign this guy to max (or near max) deal. The best thing to do is try for the Howard sweepstakes or just wait until next offseason when there will be many quality FAs.
He's already 28 and we have to worry about him losing his athletisicm. He was drafted out of high school one year after LeBron. Are you worried about LeBron losing his athletisicm?
I'm not sure if that is a serious argument. LeBron is in a class of his own. Name any player past or present that is/was as physically gifted as LBJ. Maybe you can say Shaq, but that's it. Not only that, but LBJ is so skilled that even when his athleticism begins to fade, he can still impact the game in other ways like his playmaking and shooting.
Lin Harden Parson Smith Asik That's not a championship contender unless Lin improves dramatically. With a solid point guard, that line up is a championship contender.
i dont kno anymore josh smith is a terrible shooter and if kevin mcfail isn't able to control him he'll jack up long 2s and destroy the rockets offense.
