Context matters. The Rockets didn't win a single game. Let that sink in. Detroit keyed in on Reed as the Rockets didn't have any other players. Reed didn't play great but looking at his +/- in that game is utterly meaningless. I'm not giving up on Reed just yet.
Rockets can try, Media is over hyping the Rockets. Adam Silver loves to create Dynasties, not one hit wonder in the Rockets Durant 2 year window. We have seen Scott Foster, Ken Mauer, Tony Brothers end Rockets Playoff Run. No chance Rockets will advance past the OKC Thunder. Adam Silver giving Shai everything from tacky touch foul calls for Free Throws. When James Harden does it with Free Throws, James is cheating the game. Double standard nonsense by Media.
Yeah, I think so too. But I can see what they are trying to do. I'm not convinced it's going to work, but I do think it might be their best chance, at least for the brief KD era.
Well, it could be that they're stocking up on these defense first players to open up the possibility of a trade for an offensive threat in the middle of the season, without experiencing a defensive downgrade. If not, I personally love excellent defense, so watching this team should be pretty fun.
Rockets didnt help Reed with that atrocity they rolled out there. But Reed himself is getting checked by G League guys which he should be roasting. Im not going to do with Reed what the Jalen stans did with Jalen for years. Its everyone else's fault but his. He has looked really good and really bad at times. Like a certain someone who doesnt play here anymore. I hope he understands how much hes going to need to grow up so we're not forced to play FVV 40+ minutes a night again like we had to last year because Jalen couldn't do it.
This is the way to look at it. Okogie can play some minutes and fill a role. His defense is annoying for offensive players. His offense is annoying to his team's fans. He should be fine when the Rockets need a body or have a specific need for a more mobile defender.
lol one game when he's out there playing with 0 talent. It's not just Reed stepping in to save us all our young guys will have some level of improvement. Tari Jabari Reed Amren Sengun should all make strides
I would prefer Alec Burks or Seth Curry, since we already have Tate on the roster and I don’t think we needed another player with a similar skill set. I just hope our roster has enough offensive firepower in case of a major injury.
Reed was getting double teamed at half court. It's hard to draw any conclusions from that since that has no semblance on what will happen during the regular season. It's clear to me at this point that Reed isn't going to be the alpha dog, but he might develop into an amazing system player. Agree that Reed's primary value this season is to give FVV some more bench time. FVV can: 1.) Set up the offense 2.) Play solid point-of-attack defense 3.) Hit open shots If Reed can be >75% as good in those 3 areas, his season is a success.
The fact that there's so much hilarious agonizing over backups and end of the bench players is a testament to how good this team should be.
No, certainly not giving up on him but if you think it’ll be easier for him in the real NBA vs the cruddy SL then I don’t know what to say. The NBA will have a top level athlete pressing Reed all over the court and will scout and post up taller players in the post on him. Occurred last season and the results ended up with Holliday taking his spot. Lets not claim he'll be our offensive savior quite so quickly.
