Sucks that Charlie's off the air, I listened to him quite a bit back in the day. Yall hate this new guy so much that you will talk about him non-stop? You know that half of yall will tune in to his show. You're giving him the pub that he wants, if you ignore him and just act like he doesn't exist, then he won't matter to any of your/our worlds.
Anyone hear his meltdown on the radio just now? He just lost me as a listener for dropping all those callers to make a point... Wtf dude.
Content is incredibly on-demand in this day and age, and radio is facing the same dilemma as paper print, a dying medium in an ever-increasing digital world. Some will integrate and rise up, others will fall into obscurity as footnotes of a dying era. Josh Innes over Charlie P is the state of content in this world. Controversy sells. Drama nets ratings. Ratings sell ads. As a business decision it is quite literally a no-brainer. Charlie never understood the importance of digital media and content being driven repeatedly. Plugging the blog several times a day (almost begrudgingly) throughout your show doesn't cut it. You need web hits to drive ad revenue just as much as you need radio ratings. These guys have to be on Twitter or Facebook constantly interacting and saying inflammatory things. Thus is the nature of the beast. You guys should read this book I'm reading right now. It is called "Trust me, I'm lying". It shows how easily the media is manipulated and the truth is bent to serve more ads up. Fascinating stuff.
I heard that; dropped his callers because one of the callers wanted him to just talk sports so he took off the callers initially and then all of them that wanted to talk about other stuff then tore up his topic sheet and now just talking Rockets, Texans, etc.
Bingo. Being a host at this point is as much about driving interest on other platforms. It's not much different than being, say, a late-night TV host. Because of his time slot and his general lack of name recognition compared to someone like Jimmy Fallon or Stephen Colbert, I can't imagine that James Corden's show does huge ratings, but I'm certain that CBS sees his show as an incredibly valuable brand, given how much buzz his bits (particularly carpool karaoke) generate online in the days after they air.
I canceled Sirius as Stern sucks ass and only works like 5 days a month, not worth $76 every 3 months. I tuned into his show the other day when they went into safe space, playing Mister Rogers in the background, making stuff with play doh and coloring in books. I found it amusing, especially when the angry man called in wanting to talk Texans and not this childish bullshit! Got a good chuckle.
This A** Clown just Tweeted on 790's Page out a pic of some kid in a cheesy outfit and hat, likely Jim Mudd, with the caption Gay or No? And it was promptly deleted from Twitter.
I tried to listen to his show again yesterday. He said the Texans should give up a 1st and a 4th round pick for Tony Romo.
same now. I was still listening to Matt's show but they ruined it even more by taking Ross off of it. Michael Connor is truly a whiny b**** and impossible to listen to
Yup. This included the Stern package and internet subscription. Just no. I can wait a day for Stern and listen the next day when his show pops up on Youtube in full form if interested.
